For those asking, the translation is always at the bottom of the chapter. I will not be putting it in the same paragraph. To me, there's no point in writing out an alien language if it's in the same paragraph and scrolling to the bottom isn't very hard 😂🩷

Love you all! Whether you're a new reader or a rereader, I hope you enjoy!!

The last place Posie expected to wake up in was flat on her back, in the middle of a desert.

Her head lolled to the side against the ground that grew wan and weird, defertilized and dehumanized. It was neither brown, gray, or beige, the no color of death reflecting light, sponging up light. The further up her gaze went, she realized there wasn't a single tree, plant, stream of water, or any sign of life around her.

The longer she laid there, the more the blistering hot sand burned her. She cursed under her breath and clambered to her feet, thanking God she had shoes on to protect them from the scorching sand. She panted and wiped the sweat from her brow. It had to be at least 110 degrees (43.3C?) out here, not a single cloud in the purple sky or a breeze to give her a break from the unforgiving heat.

Wait. Purple sky?

She shielded her red puffy eyes to look up and discover she unfortunately wasn't crazy. It was the middle of the day and the sky had a lilac tint to it. Even though it was light out, there were countless planets and stars, all in various colors and sizes, sprinkled like sparkles in the sky, yet no single sun. The heat had to of come from the big stars.

Her brain wracked around with multiple thoughts and scenarios as to where she was or how she got here, but she came up blank. The more she blanked, the more she panicked. Her breathing quickened, as did her heart, making her feet feel like they just had to move. She reeled backwards, stumbling over nothing as she did, and bumped into hot searing metal.

She retracted from it immediately, a painful hiss escaping her lips. Rubbing the raw skin on her back, her eyes steadily widened in realization. It was a small damaged space pod, just big enough for a single rider to fit. That's how she got here.

Though she still had no memory of flying here, crashing here, or anything that happened in the past 24 hours, she knew this was her ticket home.

With a few tugs, she managed to pry the damaged door open and crawled inside. She fumbled to put the headphones on and slid into the pilot's seat. "Hello, is anyone there?" She tested over the radio. Her response was a loud screeching feedback with no voice.

She cursed under her breath and tried a different channel. "Does anybody copy? Can anyone hear me?" She pleaded. Her only response this time was static.

She tried another channel, and another, and another, all with the same soul crushing results... nothing.

She tried for hours, she was sure of it, all while under the unforgiving heat of the planet. With tears stinging the backs of her eyes, she ripped the headphones off her head and tossed them aside. Her head craned back in hopes of fighting off tears because she cried now, she'd really lose it. She had to keep it together for survival. It was time to find shelter for the night, fresh water, and hopefully food here.

Here. Where exactly was here?

Well, several minutes of hiking later, she still had no clue- but it definitely wasn't on earth. After what felt like forever of walking, she found a jungle. Stepping into the tree's shadow, she felt relieved for a break from the scorching heat, but feared what hid within the towering trees.

Her eyes widened in awe as a gentle wind surrounded her, seemingly encouraging her to step inside the shadows of the trees. The breeze on this planet had a tint of a rainbow swirl, as if bright inks were dropped into a current with precision. On her skin it felt as silk on this blistering hot day, cool and smooth. It eddied around fingers as if it were water in some magic wishing well. She watched it, allowing time to stand still just for her, breathing it in.
