Prince "Robert's" POV

For some, the feast continued pretty uneventfully, irrespective of the undeniable tension - people were still able to put their differences aside and enjoy what the rest of the feast brought to them.

However, there was no denying that a lot was going to break down after the meal. From the temper tantrum thrown by the Princess to the Queen, to the cold stare that my mother gave me from the other side of the table, to the King's permanent smirk...

All I know is that: there is going to be a lot of altercations after this feast, and I'm not so certain I'm keen on the idea of being around for all of that considering that my head is already in turmoil.

I mean, I know of a few people that would be ecstatic if they were told that they would be King in a few months time. Heck, I've even met some people who were open to the idea of killing even their family members - just to be able to secure the throne, but the problem for me is - I never wanted this.

I don't want this - to an extent that if the opportunity presented itself, I would happily relinquish this position, but is there anything I can do at this moment? Is there anything I can do to get myself out of this before Victoria gets all the power and influence?

"Your Majesties?" Nathaniel calls out gently, his chin almost touching his chest as he bows his head in respect. "May I please be excused, it's getting a bit late?"

"And don't come back" the Princess comments with a nasty look - succeeding greatly at making me even more pissed.

"Oh, th-thanks" Nathan stammers, before getting off his seat and scurrying out of the dining hall.

"Hey Nathan!" I yell as I run after him. He stops in his tracks. "Can I accompany you home?"

"I don't want to inconvenience you Your- Robert" he says, his gaze never leaving the floor.

"But you're not though. I just...really want some fresh air and to be out of this place, even if it's only for a few minutes."

"Well," he sighs, bringing his eyes to meet mine. "You can" he adds quickly and turns to walk out of the palace, but irrespective of how quickly he turned around - I still saw the smile that grew on his face when he agreed to me accompanying him.

So I follow him out of the palace and out of the yard, not without giving the guard that dragged him into the palace earlier the nastiest look I could muster...

"Are more people coming to the feast?" Nathaniel questions, bringing me back to reality.

"No, the feast is usually an exclusive thing - by that I mean, for just the Royal family and a few family friends, no one else" I explain briefly.

"I think this time it's a bit different than the other years."

"What do you mean?" I ask in confusion, before he points to a group of about 50 men, who were all dressed in fancy suits, standing just a few yards away from the palace.

"Maybe it's because the King is stepping down, so they also wanted to come here and enjoy the day with you guys" he suggests.

"I guess that makes sense."
