"You bringing her here?" Neliah who had just waken up, stood there in the door way, a mug on her face as she watched Milo assemble a bassinet that he had bought from Target in one of the empty rooms, in his place.

"Um...Yeah." Milo responded in a 'duh' tone of voice. If Neliah wasn't okay with that, he had no problem kicking her to curb. "Problem?"

"No." Neliah shifted her thick body weight to her other leg— still standing there. "I just figured since you be out the house so much that it would weird to have her here, who gone watch her?"

"I'm going to watch my own baby." He mugged her with irritation starting to be added in his voice, "Why would I make you watch her? Of all people..."

"Well you saying that like I ain't capable or something." She retorted, she was indeed great with kids and actually was planning to have one soon.

"I know you are.. I'm just not leaving her in the care of you, but she come first regardless so her presence going to be respected." He shrugged, he had to make sure there was no beating around the bush and she fully understood that Masami will always come first!

That made Neliah uneasy although it was nothing wrong with what he said, she just didn't like to hear it. It also bothered her that she always expected to have his first baby but she has to sit back and watch him care for a baby he had with someone else.

"Well since we are setting boundaries.." She started, just to keep something going. "You got no reason to keep going over Jilly house. For now on, let her drop off and pick the baby up from here."

"You can't never set no boundaries with my family." He  told her not even realizing how bad those words were going to hurt her.

"Your what?" She furrowed her eyebrows, "Who are you referring to as your 'family'?"

"Both of them. Whether me and her together or me and you together, whatever else, she became my family the minute we conceived our daughter."

Neliah swallowed the lump in her throat and nodded her head— fighting back her tears. "Okay Milo."

"Ain't nothing to trip about, you my girlfriend and she knows that."

As much as he thought the fact that he told Jilly about her, might've gave her some relief, the whole 'my family' thing overruled that and crushed her heart.

She walked away and Milo shifted his focus to the empty spot where she was just standing.

It was starting to settle in and he was feeling bad about the way he said it, not that he didn't mean exactly what he said though.

He diverted his full attention back to the bassinet, almost done putting it together.

He then set up a few other things, added a little decor to the walls and when he was finally done, he stepped into the doorway to take a picture and send to Jilly.

Standing in the center of Milo's living room was hisself, Neliah and Jilly. The tension was very much there and it was making Milo nervous.

He didn't want to make Jilly feel uncomfortable leaving Masami with him or make Neliah feel like he doesn't care about her.

"Anybody gonna speak or we gone stand here looking stupid?" Jilly looked back in forth between them while standing next to the baby's car seat and some belongings.

"I don't really know what there is to say." Neliah shrugged before looking over at Milo, "Ain't you pose to be doing the talking?"

"Well shit, i thought y'all should just speak to eachother, wouldn't you wanna meet the female your baby gone be around?" Milo nodded to Jilly.

Jilly looked Neliah up and down a few times but not in a way that would seem as if she had a problem, "Well with you having some animosity towards me— i need to make sure my baby gone be safe. Milo gone always be around so i'm sure she will, but I don't want no sneaky shit cause I swear—

"Jilly..." Milo cut her off, she was clearly about to threaten Neliah and that wasn't a good way to start the conversation.

"I'm just saying... It's females out there who will harm a baby because of who the momma is..She innocent. I would just like you to treat her as if she was your own or don't bother with her at all."

Neliah nodded her head in agreement. She didn't have any intentions on mistreating the baby, that's not something she could even bring herself to do.

"She going to always be in good hands, you don't have to worry about anything... As far as me and you, all of that is in the past, i'm over it." Neliah told the truth.

"Besides all that, I respect what y'all have going on and I'm not going to come between it so don't think nothing of us other than we just co-parenting." Jilly reassured her— she would never cause that kind of pain to a female, knowing how that felt.

This conversation was opening her eyes that maybe she really didn't have to worry about Milo doubling back on Jilly so it was no reason to have any ill feelings towards her.

"Thank you for that, I appreciate it."

Milo smiled as he listened to the conversation, it was literally the opposite of how he imagined it going.

It went silent for a moment leaving Jilly to feel a little uncomfortable and assuming that was her cue to leave.

"Ima gone head and head out." Jilly told them, passing the baby's bag to Milo. "Her milk, diapers, and clothes is in here and that's probably all she would need."

"I got all that already." Milo handed her the bag back, "I even got my own baby bag." He stuck his tongue out jokingly.

"Well okay then daddy of year." She joked back as they both let out a few laughs and Neliah joined in, just to not seem so awkward and out of place.

Jilly told them goodbye before making her way to the door.

She took one last look around and landed her eyes on Milo and Neliah who were smiling as they watched Masami sleep and she couldn't help but to have the thought lingering in her mind, that was supposed to be them.
