Sophie simply faces the window

"You're going to keep your mouth shut about the whole thing understand?"

"When the doctors start asking questions, just say you're a friend," she continues

I sigh languidly

"I'm 28 and she's 14,"

Sophie snaps her head in my direction angrily

"You're an older friend," she emphasises vehemntly

"Keep this hush hush because you don't want work to be snooping about," Sophie begins pacing up and down the room

"When they ask about the baby just say it was one of your one night stands," she finishes

Her green eyes bore into mine

"I understand," I say quietly

"When she's finally older, when the age thing won't be such an issue, you can reveal she's the mother," Sophie claps her hands and sighs

"I don't think she wants to be with me anymore," I say meekly

Sophie rolls her eyes

"There I thought we actually had something good for you,"

"Something good, just that good came at a very, very bad time," I continue timidly, tears pricking in my eyes
