I finally tell the rest of my family over dinner
Mum and dad are ecstatic
"My first grand child!" Mum breathes with sheer joy illuminating from her eyes
Sophie gives me a warning glance to stop me from saying anything else
"When are we going to meet her then?" Dad asks clapping and rubbing his hands together
We're sitting in an extravagant restaurant and the chandelier is glistening above us
"Soon," I simply reply
"Was she one of your one night stands?" Stephanie comments spitefully
The words are lodged in my throat
"Shut up Steph, he actually loves the girl," Sophie snaps back
Stephanie shrugs her shoulders and takes a large swig of her champagne
Mum squeals in delight and demands she comes for dinner next week
I smile fleetingly
At least I'm assured in knowing she can look at least 18
