Her Aunt didn't come with high expectations but I put on a dazzling show
My green eyes blazed with broken pieces of intensity
Flashed my sparkling millionaire dollar white smile
Poured the smoothest most expensive champagne the restaurant had to offer
Filled her aunt with cool reassuring words
I dodged the issue of how our relationship came to be or if any feelings were there
Her aunt left feeling elated and satisfied
I left feeling sick and nauseated
I kept my green eyes trained on her aunt throughout the dinner
I was so afraid that if I held her gaze for too long I'd unravel and the allusion would be gone
I went home and tried to call her
