Bill Nye, having finally escaped from the Bill Nye clones, was bowled over by a pure white warrior.
Whiteblood: Pathogen detected!
Bill Nye: I'm not a pathogen! I'm Bill Nye The Science Kitty!
Whiteblood: Oh, it's you! I'm Whiteblood, of BloodClan 2.0
Bill Nye: BloodClan! But weren't they-
Whiteblood: No! Gosh, we aren't evil! We at BloodClan have a very specific system. We're organised like the body of a cat. In the centre is or camp, the 'Heart' wherethe hunters go to-and-from. Then there is the 'brain' at the top, where the leader and deputy are. Then there is the mouth, where queens and kits are, and the 'hands' where the Medicine cat is. Apprentices are found in the 'feet', and in the 'bone marrow' we warriors are found. We warriors, all of us pure white, act as white blood cells and go from the bone marrow, where are dens are, and help fight off any intruders that enter our territory.
Bill Nye: So you basically protect and fight off any intruders? Like some sort of immune system, say if the territory was a body, and invaders pathogens like viruses and bacteria, the warriors are part of the immune system!
Whiteblood: Exactly! Some people call our special division leukocytes, and we function as white blood cells do inside our bodies. We go throughout the bloodstream, fighting off invaders to protect the body!
Bill Nye: Fascinating.
Whiteblood: Anyway, must dash! If you're hungry, look for my sister, Redblood!
Bill Nye: Redblood?
Redblood: Hi! I've only a short period of time so listen up. Inside the body, Red blood cells hail from the bone marrow and carry oxygen in the protein Hemoglobin and carries it around the body, as well as transporting carbon dioxide to the lungs for exhalation. Well, in our clan, instead of carrying around oxygen, we carry around another of life's vitalities, food, and take the waste leftovers to the 'lungs'- what we call the exit/entrance from our territory and the waste food is 'exhaled' from our territory. To put it in idiot terms, we take food round the territory, then take the waste out of the territory. Got it?
Bill Nye: I think so, but I have questions! What about the circulatory system Whiteblood mentioned.
Redblood: Well, the elders like to call it the Cardiovascular system or just the vascular system. In the body, it's an organ system that permits blood to circulate and transmit nutrients, oxygen, carbon dioxide, hormones and blood cells to fight pathogens. Well, in our clan it's the way and order we run in. We have the blood, made up of the Plasma warriors, White blood warriors, red blood hunters and the platelets. We go to the heart, or main den, to collect food and go through vessels and veins to reach the clan. That's about it!
Lymphtail: Oi, don't forget the lymphatic system! We're made of old plasma warriors, lymph warriors, lymph node warriors and lymph vessels. We take old plasma warrior from the interstitial fluid (the place between camps) back to the heart as lymph warriors until they can begin the cycle again. And it's not just vessels and veins, there are also arteries and capillaries.
Bill Nye: This has been very, ah, interesting. Nice to learn about blood with you!
Bill Nye hurried off, nervously looking behind at an oncoming swarm of white blood warriors.
