THE NEXT DAY…
EDWARD’S POV:
“Dude, okay na ba ang lahat?” I asked Marco.
“Yes, just as planned. We’ve already sent out the invites.”
“Good. Make sure everybody will come.”
“Don’t worry dude. Everything’s okay.” Christian.
“What about her? Make sure she’s there.”
“Sila Mary na ang bahala dun. Kinausap na naming sila kahapon pa kaya relax bro.” Nil.
“Good. I want everything to be perfect. Hindi na ko pwedeng pumalpak ngayon. This is my last chance.”
“Chill ka lang bro. Masyado ka namang kinakabahan, babae lang yan.” Gerard.
“She was not just a girl, she’s my Kirsten so please make everything right.”
“Aye, aye captain!” Marco answered jokily. I just hope, everything will turn out fine.
THIRD PERSON’S POV:
6:30 PM.
Everyone is gathered at the open ground. All students and professors are invited in the said event.
“Ano ba kasi ginagawa natin dito?” Kirsten asked Mary.
“May event nga daw kasi, para sa graduation natin. Everyone is required to attend.” Sagot ng dalaga.
“Hindi naman yata importante yan, uwi na lang ako.” Yamot na sabi nya.
“Hay naku Kirsten, umayos ka nga. Kung kailan naman malapit na tayo gumraduate saka ka naman tatamarin. Stay ka lang dito.” Niña.
“It’s getting late na kasi, wala pa ko tulog tapos maaga pa yung rehearsal natin tomorrow for the graduation.” She said impatiently.
“Ay sus, bakit kasi wala kang tulog? And your eyes were swollen.” Puna ni Niña.
“Wala. Naiyak lang ako dun sa novel na binasa ko.” She lied.
“Deny pa more. Namimiss mo lang si Edward eh.” Mary teased.
“Pwede ba, let’s not talk about him. He’s part of my past.”
“O…kay…” They answered in unison.
A moment later, Edward came out the stage. As expected, naghiyawan ang mga kababaihang nandoon, except for Kirsten na noo’y gulat na gulat ng makita ang binata. Ayaw na sana nyang makita ito pagkatapos ng nangyari kahapon ngunit sadyang mapaglaro ang tadhana.
“Uhm, good evening everyone! I’m glad you all came.” Panimula ng binata.
“Tara na guys please…” Bulong ni Kirsten kina Mary ngunit dinedma lang sya ng mga ito. Nasa may bandang harapan kasi sila kaya mas lalong bumibigat ang kalooban nya.
“Actually this wasn’t an event about the graduation or school. I called you all here today to say…I’m sorry. Sa lahat ng mga nasaktan ko physically and emotionally, sa mga pinaiyak ko, niloko ko at pinaglaruan ko, sorry. I really am. And I hope you’ll find it in your heart to forgive me.” Habang sinasabi ito ng binata ay sa nakayukong Kirsten naman nakatuon ang atensyon nya. “Maybe you’re all wondering why I’m doing this, simple lang. Dahil gusto kong maging karapat-dapat sa taong pinakamamahal ko. And I know, I can be the man she deserves kapag natutunan kong magpakumbaba at humingi ng tawad sa lahat ng mga taong nasaktan ko ng sobra. So please, I hope you can all forgive me?” He said with sincerity. The audience all raised their right thumb as a sign that he’s forgiven. “Thank you!” He smiled in return. “Do you want to know who is the lucky girl?” And the audience shouted a YES! “Okay, I’ll tell you.” He took a deep breath. “10 months ago, I saw a picture of a woman in the admission committee. I said to myself, she’s beautiful and she’s someone I can play with. A month after, I was able to see her in person; she’s at the parking lot that time. Right there and then, I was captured by her beauty. To cut the story short, I did everything for her to be part of my life. Since she came, nagkaroon ng meaning ang buhay ko. Everyday, I was inspired to come to school kasi alam ko makikita ko sya at makakasama. I never realized that I am capable of caring for someone so much until she came. Sya yung nagturo sa kin na hindi lahat nadadaan sa galit, she taught me that I can be kind and gentle. I am known a jerkass by many, pero I didn’t mind kasi para sa kanya mabuti akong tao. And it is all that matters to me. Kahit magalit na ang lahat ng tao sakin, kakayanin ko basta andyan sya. Corny man sabihin pero, kulang ako kapag nawala sya.” He paused for a while. “I know, I’ve hurt you so many times, but I promised, I’ll be better. Handa akong magbago para sayo. I can do anything and everything just to make you happy. At gagawin ko ang lahat to win you back. I should have told you this for so long pero napangunahan ako ng takot na baka i-reject mo ko. But now, I want you to know, that I love you babe. Mahal na mahal kita.” He confessed but since he's busy constructing his words, hindi nya napansin na wala na si Kirsten sa audience. He stared at Mary with a questioning look. The latter gestured that Kirsten ran away.
