Playing pretend can have unintended consequences. When Blue was little, usually those "unintended consequences" were only involving more imaginary friends joining the game. But now, with two dead parents, an empty apartment, and money gifted from the rebellion to purchase Finnick Odair for a couple nights, this supposedly simple game of pretend ends in shambles.
͙⁺˚*･༓☾ 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒔: — this story has lived in my head for months rent free so I have a lot of ideas
— one: since the capital has wack ass names.. cal goes by blue because some of her mother's last words to her was "your eyes. they're blue just like his" MEANING...
— cal's mom was a hunger games winner. and she was in love w her district partner whose name was calian and he had blue eyes. cal always went by blue in the capital and at home but when her mother and her were alone, she'd call her calian. but when her mom died she's only ever been called "blue"
— cal's mom ends up in the capital because she was sold as a bride to one of snow's cabinet members. (this is fan fiction so I'm letting it happen cause why not). the districts think cal's mom fell in love w the guy but in reality she was sold. she was beautiful and won her games v brutality which made her a favorite
— so now cal is shown off by snow because he's showing the districts that if you're good then you can be "saved" by the capital and live a capital life
— now onto cal: she is a rebel!!!! she's a spy for the rebellion!!!!! she joined after her mom died. she works closely with plutarch
— the reason the rebellion wants her to get close to finnick is so he can join the rebellion as well. and they want cal to give him info. and finnick can give them info on other hunger games winner like who would want to join the rebellion
— you can decide if cal knew about the quarter quell or not. I can see it going both ways. one: she knows and tells finnick near the announcement date or she keeps it from him. two: she has no idea and her and finnick can get angry together or sumn
— IMPORTANT: cal goes by blue!!!!! finnick only knows her name when he tells her that he knows nothing about her (besides the dead parents and she's a spy) so cal tells him that her names "calian". finnick now either calls her cal and calian when he's being serious. but in public he only calls her "blue"
— cal starts to call finnick "finn" when they get closer. and they aren't just a spy and a tribute trading info. now they're friends. and eventually they'll fall in love
— cal can either stay behind and continue to spy for the rebellion after the arena blows up or she can go to district 13 w plutarch
— if she stays, she can tell the rebellion where peeta and johanna are being kept
— if she stays she will also be watched A LOT MORE because when finnick gets caught by the jabberjays in the arena he yells out "cal" and "calian" so now snows like 👀👀
— so cal's name is that because calian= warrior of life, honor, and eternal hope.... gaumond= death in battle & protection
— cal's mom had major ptsd and she trained cal with knives (her mom's specialty) just in case she would get picked for the hunger games (which she couldn't cause now she's a capital child but her mom was paranoid. as she should) this means that cal has knives hidden around her house and she knows how to use them vvvv well (like finnick w trident, katniss w bow- good)
— idk about cal's dad. but he was all for snow. idk how he died and u can choose how he and cal's mom died. I'm thinking simply- old age
— so "playing pretend" is big here because cal pretends she loves the capital and is loyal to snow. finnick and cal pretend their only relationship is buyer & prostitute when in reality it's no where near that. finnick and cal also attend parties together a lot. cal pretends to be finnick's number 1 buyer because she loves his body but in reality she never touches him and they only talk when they're together
— finnick HAS to make the first move. cal makes sure she never touches him or make moves toward him because technically she did buy him for the night. cal understands the uneven power dynamic and it worries her if she oversteps
— cal starts to buy finnick w her own money because she's lonely and wants a friend. they don't even talk about the rebellion. she HAS to buy finnick for the night because they can't be seen together otherwise. unless snow orchestrates it. they only just chit chat at parties but if they want to be alone then cal will have to bid for him
— the first time finnick is with cal he thinks that she's a customer but cal shuts that down so quick like "WOAH! pls put ur shirt back on!!! I am NOT interested!!!"
— the title is currently "hidden horrors" but I always thought up "hidden in silk" "hidden in plain sight" but u can choose any title or make ur own
— if u change the faceclaim she MUST have blue eyes
