Letters to Yuzuru

"You like him, he likes you"

You wake up to the sound of your alarm. You start to get out of bed, when there is a sudden pain in your head. The next thing you know it, you start to feel really nauceous. "Not again." You think to yourself as your lay yourself back in bed. Out of all the times that this could've happen, why now? You know that you had to get ready soon because you had to head down to the rink soon. Yesterday, you stayed back at the hotel room while Yuzuru went to practice for the free skate. You decided not to go because of what happened at the short program practice and you didn't want him to get distracted. You wanted to watch Yuzuru skate, but at the same time, you didn't want him to see you like this. However, you really did not want to get out of bed. But, you know that you had to do it. For him. You had to watch him skate his free. There was something about his free skate this year that made you feel really connected to it. The first time you watched him skate it in practice, you were almost in tears and you really don't know why. You thought that it's probably because it's going to be the last free skate program you would ever see. You got out of bed and got ready making sure to put a lot of makeup on. When you heard the knock on the door, you were expecting Brian since he told you the night before he would come to get you, but when you open the door, you see Yuzuru in front of you. You're eyes widened in surprise and you see him staring at your feet.

"Good morning. Did you sleep well?" He asks while scratching behind his head

"Yeah I did. How about you?" You ask him

"Kinda. I mean, all I've been thinking about is today. I just want to skate really good for you"

You smile at his words and say, "You don't have to do anything for me. Just do it for yourself. It doesn't matter if you totally screw up because I'll always be proud of you"

He smiles and pulls you into a hug.

"I'm really sorry for acting like this the past couple of days. I didn't mean to be rude to you. It's just.... I don't know" He says as he puts his chin on your head which makes you smile even more.

"Don't apologize. It's not your fault. If you don't like Joshua, that's okay. You have your reasons. Please don't think about that today because me and Joshua are nothing. You'll always be the one that I lo-" You stopped after realizing what you were saying.

He then looks at you weirdly and asks, "What?"

"Nothing. Let's just go" You say and the two of you walk down to the lobby with his arm around your neck.

When you get to the rink, you sit in the stands in a place where you hope Yuzuru can't see you. You don't want him seeing you because you don't want him to get distracted. When Yuzuru gets on the ice, you feel like crying for some reason. When he starts, all you can think about is the quad salchow. You remember the conversation you had with him a few weeks ago before he left for the Filandia Trophy.

"Just make sure you land that quad salchow for me."

"I will. Just for you."

He sets up for it and jumps and you knew he was going to land it. The speed, rotation and form was all there. However, you were wrong. He fell, but got back up in a heartbeat. You couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. As the routine went on, it was going pretty well. You thought that he still had a chance to win, but he popped out of his triple axel-triple toe loop combination and you couldn't help but gasp when he missed it. There was a look of frustration on his face and you knew he was mad himself. When he did his ina bauer, you couldn't help but smile. The score he got wasn't his best, but it definitely wasn't the worse. Overall, he finished in 2nd and Joshua finished in 5th. After the competition, just like the short program, you met Yuzuru outside. When you saw him, you ran into his arms.
