-finn was always good at timing
-he would always show up
-if he didn't, it was for good reason
-this time it was your deceased mother's birthday
-finn didn't know about her birthday being today
-but he was still there
-he knew you were sad beyond what he thought was normal for you
-he came over
-he saw your dad crying
-no sobbing on the couch with photos of your mom in front of him
-being the confused bean he is
-he walked to your room, questioning everything
-"y/n? what's wrong?"
-"it's her birthday, finn"
-"shit"
-he quickly walked over to you, hugging you tight
-"shhh, it's going to be fine, baby"
-"y/n, do you need anything?"
-"no"
-he just knew you were lying
-so he basically pushed you off the bed and helped you change into more appropriate clothes for going out
-it's not weird for either of you
-come on you're teenagers, you like to do different things in your free time
-anyways
-he took you down to his car and started driving
-(just pretend he has some sort of licensing)
-he took you to (your favorite restaurant)
-"thank you finn, but this was her favorite too"
-finn felt so bad
-it broke his heart seeing you like this
-as cliche as that sounds
-it's true
-he started to drive somewhere else while you protested it, you just wanted food tbh
-so he brought you to (your second favorite lmao)
-the food was great
-and finn didn't bring up your mom in any way
-it was overall pretty good
-but when you got in the car
-it was a waterfall of tears
-finn hugged you and tried his best to calm you down
-he wanted to go see a movie
-to maybe help you think about something other than your mom
-he decided it was a bad idea after seeing you cry like that
-instead he brought you home to cuddle
-which definitely cheered you up to get a little smile out of you
-finn was proud of that accomplishment
-he stayed over to make sure you were going to be okay
-you had a good day
-despite the crying and it being your moms birthday
-and finn was proud of you for getting through it
