Hayden's POV

Ah, the sky's grey again. Another day has gone by I see.

Narrator

He stared through the clear shined glass window. Looking through the freshly cut grass swaying back and forth forcefully, the dark sky blowing horrendously and the heart in his body beating nervously.

He never expected this would happen to him. Not to him at least.

But he couldn't do anything about it. His mate is gone, and he has to accept it.

And then, he heard the footsteps of her. Her high heel shoes made clear sounds on the floorboard.

"Bitch." He thought.

He waited till he couldn't hear anything. And that's when both were in the same room.

"Hayden." She greeted.

He turned to meet a lady.

She had class, you can tell. Jet black hair, dark red lips, curved body, tight dress and pumps.

"Megan." He replied.

"Haha. What's with the stone face of yours?" She giggled.

"Nothing." He was no longer looking at her. In fact, he was picturing his lost mate in front of her. I mean why wouldn't he? She was the spitting image of Annabel.

"So, what do I do first?" She asked.

"Ask Isaac. He'll tell you what to do." He replied and walked off.

"You can at least put some effort you know." She suddenly interrupted.

"Effort?"

"Yes. She's gone, and I know it's hard. But your new life is just beginning. And you've already started to throw it away."

He chuckled slightly.

"Who said I wanted a new life."

He tugged his hands in his pockets and left the room.

Hayden's POV

I collapsed on the bed.

They're too alike.

"Hayden, can I come in?" Diana asked.

"Why not." I said harshly.

I heard her let out a huge sigh before coming in.

"Why did you get Isaac take care of Megan?"

"Because I don't want to."

"C'mon Hayden. "

"Is that all you want to talk about?"

"Well,"

"Then get out."

"The annual alpha's ball is coming up. And you're gonna bring Megan."

"I don't want to. You're coming with me."

"I can't. I've got something to do that day."

"Like what."

"Something..."

I sat up straight.

"What are you keeping from me."

"Nothing. Just...bring Megan there. You won't regret it, I promise."

I tilted my head in confusion. What did she mean?

The day of the ball.

I wore a simple suit as I didn't bother to dress up fancy.
