Jocelyn POV

I walked up to Alexander, silently begging the Angel for forgiveness for the things I was about to do. I needed to protect my daughter from this lifestyle. And breaking a young man was the price to keep my daughter.

"Alec, hey" I greeted.

He looked over at me, it was a few seconds before his eyes focused in on me. "Hey"

"How is your mother?" I asked in a concerned voice.

"Fine. Why?" He asked, sounding confused.

"Oh, I just overheard her and Isabelle talking. If you don't already know you probably shouldn't" I replied, sounding concerned while declining him information.

"What were they talking about?" He asked.

"I probably shouldn't tell you. She was very reluctant telling Isabelle" I replied. "But you're the oldest, you should probably know. Apparently your mother is having problems with your father, she was very upset and both she and Isabelle were crying. You never heard this from me though, I shouldn't know in the first place"

His mouth hung open, he was about to speak when his phone rung, Magnus contact lighting up the screen.

"Maybe, there is a reason she didn't tell you" I said, glancing at his phone. He followed my gaze and frowned. "As much as I'm sure your mother is trying to open up to your preferences, I'm sure she couldn't help but be reluctant, with that. Possibly it isn't your preferences, per say, but who you chose. Maybe you should rethink your priorities, Mr. Lightwood. I would hate for your family to shun you, exclude you for something as easily fixed as that. Lightwoods have been like that for centuries, I might be open but that doesn't mean that they are"

I walked away, leaving the boy to think over I had said. The evil suggestions I'd left in his head. I continued walking as if nothing had happened. I'm so sorry Alec, you're a good kid, I'm sure. But family means more, you should know that better than anyone. That's why you are the easiest target.

I walked to Clary's room at the Institute and knocked on the door. My bubbly girl opened the door and pulled me into a hug.

"Hi Mom" she exclaimed and led me into the room.

"Hi Clare, what are doing?" I asked, shaking off the remaining guilt.

"Just drawing" she answered picking up her sketchbook and showing me a picture of Isabelle and some girl I didn't recognize.

"I should've known. You've never stopped since you started when you were three. Grabbing crayons and making me put your pictures on the fridge" I replied with a chuckle.

"Yeah. I've never stopped. Are you okay Mom, you seem on edge?" Clary asked, her beautiful emerald eyes looking up at me.

"I'm just getting back to normal, after being in a comatose state for so long, it's kinda odd to be in control lf your actions again. I'm good baby girl, just getting back to normal" I responded.

"Oh. I guess it would be weird to just wake up one day after being asleep for months" she said, nodding her head in understanding.

"So how has your time been at the Institute? Did they hurt you? Are you okay? Did they force you to do anything?" I asked, worriedly.
