Chapter 26

I could practically feel the heat radiating off my face as Roger and got dressed and left the room. we awkwardly tumbled down the stairs unsure of how to handle the situation, Roger was still buttoning his shirt. He was clumsily thumping down the thick oak stairs clearly as unsure as I was. As we entered the hall way at the bottom of the stairs a series of voices and giggles floated through the evening air. I felt my face grow even hotter as I heard snippets of their conversation

"DID YOU SEE HER FACE. OH MY GOD, IT WAS PRICELESS"   

I buried my face in my hands groaning loudly at my own stupidity. A large pair of arms wrapped around my waist from behind as Roger nuzzled his face in to my neck. He spun me around gently so I was pressed against his chest, my face now returning to a soft shade of pink. He looked down at me a soft and loving smile creeping on to his chiselled face

"Hey Evie?" Roger started

"what-"

He cut me off by pressing a soft kiss against my lips. It was warm and sent waves of love down through my spine. He smiled in to the kiss before pulling away softly and taking my hand. Leading me fearlessly into the room where shrieks of laughter where erupting from . He pulled the door open slowly, practically having to drag me through the large wooden frame. Everyone turned their head to look at us, their eyes burning right through me. I tried to hide behind Roger the best I could feeling my face heat up again as I tightened my grip on his hand 

"Quite the show you put on there" Chris said loudly, smirking at both Roger and I. Making us both turn a deep shade of red

"Hey Chris. Behave" Brian said though he could hardly supress his own laughter. I could see John sitting in the corner nervously. I knew not even Roger and I could take his mind off of the proposal. He was utterly terrified. Holly sat looking relaxed and happy, her head resting softly on John's shoulder. Her hair tumbling around her face in a angelic halo. They both looked so perfect together, it warmed my heart. I smiled at the both of them, momentarily catching John's eye. He nodded subtly to me, I nodded back and turned to Roger. I grabbed his hand tightly making him look down at me 

"Now" I hissed

"Now?" He replied 

"Yes NOW" I whispered aggressively "Do it" he gave me an amused huff and addressed the room.  Looking at me smugly, beckoning a smile at my lips. 

"Hey. Have you guys showed them the courtyard? It looks gorgeous at night, the stars are beautiful. Should we head out?" 

"Sounds perfect" Chris smiled 

"Yeah sounds amazing" said Holly

"Would you mind escorting them John? Bri, Fred, Evie and I will grab the lights" Roger smiled sweetly at them before running through the house dramatically.

"Isn't that quite a few people for the lig-" I heard Holly start but soon it faded to a blur as Freddie grabbed me by the hand following Roger's rapid pace through the cold, stony walls of the house. We were twisting and turning through the large house as if it were a maze. To me it was a dizzy blur of extravagant art and cold grey stone. 

We burst through the French doors at the far side of the house, they lead on to a beautifully paved patio that overlooked the farm's vast courtyard. The band's equipment was set up beautifully, It had a soft velvety backdrop strung with fairy light's that cast a pale pink glow over Roger's drum risers. I smiled happily, proud of the set up I had created. I swiped up the camera I had laid on a nearby table, Roger turned around to look at me quickly. Seeing I had a camera in hand he pulled an ugly face, making me laugh as I quickly snapped a shot of him. Before all three of the boys sprinted down the steps to their instruments, I followed quickly behind them. I got myself in to a comfortable position just as we could hear John's voice bouncing off the nearby walls.
