CHAPTER 2.1 (Max)

"Maaa! Bakit hindi mo 'ko ginising? Maaga ako susunduin ni kuya Coby ngayon!" I rant while going down the stairs.

Sit straight on the dining table and grabs a newly made garlic bread by mom. this is her favorite so I'm used to eat this unique tasting bread as my breakfast. My mom is holding a spatula and a phone on the other side. Cooking while bragging everything she make for breakfast is her daily morning routine. With every tita caption you can imagine.

"Anong hindi? E kanina ka pa 5 minutes! 5  minutes! dyan!" She answers while mimicking my face while saying those.

I finish eating a slice. It's not actually bad. About to get another one when I saw my cousin's car from outside arriving.

"Ma maliligo na ko paabot nalang nung towel thank you!" I say and hurriedly run inside the bathroom.

I heard the door opening.

"Goodmorning tita!" He greets.

I can still hear them talking from inside.

"Uy, Coby Goodmorning"

"Max! Bilisan mo andito na yung pinsan mo! Nakakahiya ka!" She shouts right after greeting my cousin. "Oh kamusta naman mama mo?"

"Ah okay naman po, nung umalis ako kanina, nageexperiment nanaman po sa kusina. kung ano ano nanaman po kasi ang napapanood sa youtube."

"edi nanalo din ako sa pustahan diyan kay ate" She laugh so loud that I can still clearly hear.

"Hah? anong pustahan tita?" Kuya Coby asks.

"Nagpustahan kasi kami na hindi siya magtatagal dyan sa diet niya! Wait lang at matawagan ko nga" She answers and I hear her footstep going up the stairs.

Kuya Coby is my only cousin here in the country. The rest are in US. We live just a few streets away here in Caloocan. He's like my brother. He has no choice but to play along with me.

I study in the same University with kuya Coby. My mother decides without asking me. Right after she found out that kuya Coby is going to study in a university somewhere Intramuros, that's the time she chose that school for me.

She's paranoid. She's overthinking. She's worried just like any other mother.

Atleast she considered my wish to transfer  school. From elementary to highschool, I went to the same school. In the small private school near us. I don't want to reach college without knowing how to commute just to go to school. It's time for me to go outside my comfort zone. Staying here won't help me grow.

Afraid. Nervous. I don't have any idea how would it be. Now that I'm already a senior highschool. My subject are completely different from the usual English, Filipino and Math.

My daily routine completely changed. My enviroment and all that follows. I also need to spare a time for travel and needs extra precaution while commuting which I never did before since my school before is just a minute walk away from home.

Our class opened a week earlier than kuya Coby's. My classmates are all friends with each other. I never talked with anybody. I also memorized the mission and vision on the wall since I don't have anything to do while waiting for the teacher. My cats in Adorable Home are all groomed and want to be alone. My phone is my only safehaven.

I may like to be friends with them, but I don't know how to. All I did for the first week is to sit at the corner and observe these people around me.

Some looks like daughters of a city mayor. Using their most recent Iphone unit. Some acts strange. There are competitive students who never miss a recitation. Some looks friendly, like that gay guy who keeps on staring at me. He got an irritating loud voice that makes him more annoying.
