35. Stubborn

[Jasper charges at Stevonnie with her crash helmet, but they easily blocks it at full force with Steven's shield and knocks Jasper backwards.]

Stevonnie: Jasper, I think you're the most stubborn person I know. I told you I don't want to fight, but you keep insisting on fighting me. We can solve this problem just by talking, you know?

Jasper: I'm a fighter, not a talker! I live to fight!

Stevonnie: Same old, same old, huh?

Jasper: I don't know why, but a strange feeling inside me tells me to beat you up! *points at Stevonnie* You'd better get ready!

[Jasper then rushes at Stevonnie and slams the ground as Stevonnie dodges in time. They returns the attack with a hit of their own to Jasper's face before avoiding another strike.]

Jasper: *panting* See, you're pretty good at fighting, I don't understand why a quartz soldier would want to waste that talent. Anyway, that doesn't concern me at all. My duty is to destroy you.

[Jasper walks over to a pile of debris and rocks and picks up a fairly large one.]

Stevonnie: Um? What do you plan to do with that rock?

Jasper: Catch! *hurls the rock at Stevonnie*

[Jasper then throws more and more big rocks at Stevonnie.]

Stevonnie: I don't get what you're planning, but...

[Stevonnie swings their sword and destroys all the rocks with great ease. In doing so, however, a dense cloud of dust is generated that obstructs Stevonnie's vision.]

Stevonnie: This is nothi-- Eh? *looks around* So this was your plan all along, huh? Use the dust as a smokescreen so I couldn't see your next move. *chuckles* Well, it backfired on you, because you can't see me now either!

Jasper: I can't see you, but I CAN hear you!

[Jasper pops out from behind Stevonnie, turns around instantly, but still gets punched right in the face by Jasper, who quickly disappears into the dust cloud.]

Stevonnie: *in pain* Dammit. She's fast. I didn't see when she got there... I get it. It's in fights like this that I have to use all my senses to the fullest, I mustn't rely on my eyes alone.

[Stevonnie closes her eyes to concentrate; footsteps and air currents are heard everywhere.]

Stevonnie: *to themselves* Those air currents, it must be Jasper. Let's see... Got her!

[Stevonnie throws a punch to their left, there was Jasper, but she had managed to block their attack without difficulty.]

Jasper: Not bad. *punches Stevonnie*

[Jasper then twists Stevonnie's arm, Stevonnie breaks free, but already lost sight of Jasper again.]

Stevonnie: *in pain* T-that really hurt.

[The cloud of dust clears away.]

Stevonnie: Great, I'll be able to see her now. *looking around* Where is she?!

[Stevonnie hears something to their right, turns quickly but sees nothing. Jasper then appears from their left and takes them by surprise.]

Stevonnie: No way.

[Stevonnie does their best to fight back, but Jasper manages to land a punch to their cheek, followed by a strong uppercut, sending them flying and knocking out a couple of their teeth.]

Stevonnie: *holding their mouth in pain* Argh! Gah! What a pain!

(Stevonnie's teeth regenerate thanks to Steven's healing powers.)

Stevonnie: Oh, thank goodnes--

[Jasper quickly kicks Stevonnie in the side, sending them flying backwards onto the ground. Jasper then starts spin-dashing and runs over Stevonnie ten times consecutively, leaving them lying on the ground.]

Stevonnie: *consequently dropped their sword* Oh no, my sword!

Jasper: *picks up Stevonnie's sword* Looks like this a good sword. *checking it* I like it, I'm keeping it.

Stevonnie: *looks up at Jasper* Give it back to me!

Jasper: Sorry, but war booty is war booty!

[Jasper charges at Stevonnie and jabs their own sword towards them.]

Stevonnie: H-hold on!

[Stevonnie rolls on the ground, managing to dodge Jasper, who stuck the sword into the ground. Jasper pulls it out and tries again.]

Jasper: Hold still, you miserable!

[Stevonnie manages to fight back by sweepkicking Jasper off her feet, causing her to lose her balance for a moment.]

Jasper: You won't knock me down that easy!

Stevonnie: Thought so.

[Stevonnie takes the opportunity to get up performing a kip-up, then they punches Jasper hard in the stomach.]

Jasper: *in pain* Gagh! *enraged* You little!

[Jasper charges at Stevonnie, brandishing their sword.]

Stevonnie: You won't beat me with my own sword!

[Stevonnie dodges Jasper with ease and punches her stomach repeatedly until she drops their sword.]

Jasper: Agh! *falls to her knees* Damn it!

Stevonnie: Good. *picks up their sword* I got it back.

Jasper: *panting* A-awesome! What are you? You almost beat me with such simple punches.

Stevonnie: Hmm, well... give up now, we don't have to keep fighting, you know?

Jasper: No way!!

[Jasper charges at Stevonnie with her spin dash + comet charge. Stevonnie attempts to parry Jasper's Spin Dash with their hands.]
