Jennie POV
Lisa is super drunk. She can barely stand up. Her eyes are glassy and she can't speak because she's babbling incoherently. I help her onto the couch.
JENNIE: What do you want?
LISA: Jennie...
She tries to fix her eyes on my face, but she's so drunk I don't know how many faces she sees.
JENNIE: I'll get you a glass of water.
LISA: No.
She grabs my arm and drags me to the sofa.
LISA: Don't go.
JENNIE: I'm not going, I'm just getting a glass of water.
LISA: And then you come back...
JENNIE: Yes.
When I bring her the glass, I help her drink it.
JENNIE: Why are you here?
Lisa swallows and looks at me quizzically.
LISA: Water?
JENNIE: Yeah.
LISA: Give me something else.
JENNIE: I'm not giving you anything else.
She snorts in annoyance. I don't understand. Did she come to my house to keep the party going?
LISA: Why didn't you come tonight?
JENNIE: I didn't feel like it.
LISA: It was cool.
JENNIE: I'm glad.
LISA: But it was less cool without you.
I sigh. The things I feel when I'm alone with her overwhelm me.
JENNIE: Lie down, come on.
I take her shoes off and help her.
LISA: Jennie.
JENNIE: What?
LISA: I hate this.
'Me too.'
JENNIE: OK.
LISA: I feel things I don't understand. I can't stop.
JENNIE: Lisa, you've had too much to drink. You'll feel better tomorrow.
LISA: I won't feel better. I have to stop.
JENNIE: Then stop.
LISA: I can't.
She looks around as if trying to think of a way to stop. I don't even know what she means. Stop what?
LISA: It's impossible.
JENNIE: Get some sleep. Tomorrow you'll sober up and you'll think of something.
She looks at me like I've said something stupid.
LISA: Sober is worse.
JENNIE: Okay...
LISA: I really, really, really, really, really wanted to see you tonight.
JENNIE: Is that why you came?
LISA: I wanted to tell you something.
JENNIE: What?
She closes her eyes tightly as if trying to remember something.
LISA: I can't remember.
JENNIE: Go to sleep. It's late.
