Valeriana's pov

After Verena and I showered we went downstairs for lunch. Aristo and Lucian were here. Aurelio, Nazario, and Santino were at work. My eyes take in Aristo. He ate his food silently as he listened to my brother ramble on about this crazy dream he had the other day. Aristo finally met my gaze. I'm not going to lie. I was glaring at him.

"Uh, is there something you need?" he asked. I narrow my eyes on him more.

"No," I state.

"Then why are you staring at me like you are planning to murder me ten different ways?" he asked.

"Please, I've already come up with a hundred ways to murder you," I say. Aristo looks at my brother questioningly.

"He's not a traitor, Valeriana," Verena says. I stare at Aristo for a few more seconds before looking at Lucian. My glare hardened. "Neither is he. There isn't a traitor. Nothing bad is going on right now," She adds.

"Not yet, but there is something coming, I can feel it. I will be prepared to eliminate any of you if I find you are a traitor," I say looking at all of them including my brothers. My eyes land on Verena. My glare faltered for a second before my glare was back.

"You faltered with her," Valentino smirked.

"Oh trust me, I'll make her death the most painful," I state. My phone started to ring. It was on the table. Trey's contact was showing. I stare at my phone before declining the call.

"Why did you do that?" Matteo asked. I look up at him while turning my phone completely off.

"My friends are not safe from me either," I say before throwing my phone into the trash. My brothers look at me with concern.

"So you're going off the grid?" Lucian asked. My hand starts to shake so I clench my hand closed.

"I'm trusting my instincts. Something bad is going to happen. I'm protecting myself the best I can," I mutter before standing up. "I'll be in my room. Don't bother me," I mutter. My ears pick up on faint movement. My eyes snap over to my brothers but none of them have moved. "Did you hear that?" I asked. They don't answer me. I hear it again. I spun around. I take slow steps to the entrance. Whoever was here was hiding behind the other side of the wall. I stop right before the entrance.

"Sneaking up on you is fucking impossible," a feminine voice says. Devyn steps out. Her black hair was a little past her ears. Her eyes were a blue gray. Her features were narrowed. If looks could kill, anyone she looks at would already be dead. Another person appears next to her. Kian had dirty blonde hair and dark blue eyes. He had a blank look on his face. Devyn and Kian were a couple. I met them when we were all training to be assassins. They are the only people I trust with my life and the same goes for them.

"How did you find me?" I asked. My arms cross over my chest. They both smirk at me.

"Trust us it was hard as fuck," Kian says. I nod my head slowly.

"What's going on?" I asked. Devyn raised an eyebrow.

"The fact that you have a bounty on your head right now brings us here. Did you think we wouldn't find out?" Devyn asked. I roll my eyes. I step back before motioning them in.

"Please, come in. Since you made it this far into the house without trouble, I'll let you stay," I say. The couple walk into the room. Their eyes snap around towards everyone. They take a seat at the end of the table away from everyone. I sit across from them. My arms cross as I lean my chin onto my arms as I stare at the two. They look back at me.

"That's it? You're not going to ask anymore questions?" Kian asked.

"Do you want me to ask more?" I asked. They both shrug and look at each other before looking back at me. "Alright fine, I'll play your game. Why are you here over a simple bounty?" I asked. They don't answer me. "Awe, you missed me," I gushed. They narrowed their eyes on me. "Alright don't give anything away then, I don't trust them either," I say. Our eyes shift to the other end of the table. They were all staring at us.

"Care to explain who just broke into our house?" Valerico asked. I lean back in my chair.

"Arrow and Blitz," I say. Their eyebrows furrowed. Lucian's eyes widened.

"Woah, woah, woah. Are you telling us you are a part of Halo?" Lucian says.

"What?" Valentino asked.

"Arrow, Blitz, and Echo. Their assassin trio name is Halo. Wait, why is that your group name?" Lucian asked. Devyn, Kian and I start laughing.

"It's funny, we are far from being saints," I mutter. Lucian nods his head. "But for real, I don't see why you both are here," I say while looking at my friends. Devyn sighs before glancing at my family before looking back at me.

"Valeriana, Valer, and Echo all have a bounty out. So it's someone who knows you are all three. They really want you. Preferably alive but dead will be accepted as a last resort. What the fuck did you do and to who?" Devyn asked. I take a deep breath.

"Nothing, I swear. I haven't even been out of the..." I trail off. The only people who know I'm all three are Chris and his people. They wouldn't do that to me though. Would they? It's always someone close to you.

"You know who it is, don't you?" Kian asked. My jaw clenched before I shook my head.

"Too many to say," I say. Devyn and Kian raise an eyebrow.

"How many is too many?" Devyn asked. I stand up from my seat.

"Try a whole fucking mafia," I say. Devyn and Kian jump up. We head towards the entrance. They follow me to the door.

"Where are you going?" Valentino asked.

"Aurelio doesn't want you leaving," Matteo says. I grab the doorknob and twist it.

"At least go to him and talk with him. He will be pissed if you go and do something stupid again. He's not going to like it if you get hurt again, Valeriana," Valerico says. Devyn and Kian look at me.

"You have a family that cares for you, Valer. We can't just rush this like past missions. We need a full plan and we need more bodies. If there is a whole mafia after you we can't risk doing this ourselves. For your safety we need help," Devyn says. Kian nods his head.

"I know this isn't how we do things but, we can't lose you, V... They can't lose you," Kian says. I lick my lips before looking around the house. They were right. Aurelio says my brothers are here for me and that I don't need to do things alone. Would he help us with this? He has a bigger mafia than Chris.

"I'll send word out to the team," Devyn suggested. I nod my head.

"Do it," I say before walking back to the dining room. I place my hands on the back of Verena's chair. "Take me to Aurelio," I say to my brothers. Their eyes widened. They jump up quickly.

"Let's go," Valerico shouts excitedly. They all head towards the door. Verena stood up. She looks at me with a smile.

"You made their day coming back to ask for help," Verena says. I look towards my brothers. They had big smiles on their faces.

"Yeah, I know," I say.
