Valeriana's pov

When I arrived home yesterday I just laid in bed. My whole life was a sick fucking game. They didn't really care about me. Why didn't I catch it sooner? Those looks Damien and Kolton shared. I should have figured it out sooner. Devyn and Kian left yesterday but said they would return today.

My legs carry me downstairs. We haven't been going to school in case people try to attack. Even my brother's friends weren't going. They've been staying here since we moved. We were going back to school Monday.

"Valeriana," Lucian says. I look at him before looking around. I was standing in the middle of the stairs. "You stopped there ten minutes ago and were just blankly staring in front of you," he says. I walk down the rest of the steps.

"Sorry, just thinking," I mutter. Valerico and Valentino were on the couch. Devyn and Kian walk into the house.

"About how everyone you thought cared for you betrayed you?" Valentino asked. Valerico hit our brother before glaring at him. "Sorry," he says. I smile at them.

"No... Well sorta. I was planning their deaths. Gotta be prepared when I take these fuckers down," I respond. A glare on my face.

"Yes!" Devyn and Kian shout. They both circle me with smirks on their faces.

"There's our girl," Kian says. Devyn and Kian stand in front of me.

"What's the plan?" Devyn asked.

"T3? 4, 6, 7? There are so many to choose from! What if we create a new torture tactic for them. Start fresh. I feel our old ones aren't the worst we can do," Kian says. I nod my head.

"We can think of a new one," I mutter. Devyn and Kian nod their heads.

"Hell yeah," Devyn mutters. A smile on her face. She loves things to get bloody.

"Just curious, if you don't trust anyone why do you trust them?" Valerico asked. I look at him.

"These two and I have been through dark times. Not all assignments we took went well. In fact they both have actually died for me. Blitz for four minutes and Arrow for one minute. We were all each other had as siblings... Well those two less siblings if you know what I mean," I say.

"No way, you two are together?" Lucian asked. Devyn and Kian look at him before shrugging like it wasn't anything big. Which is a lie. They fucking love each other.

"So why are you guys back?" Valentino asked. I look at my brother.

"Extra protection for Valeriana," Devyn says.

"So are we ever going to find out your real names?" Lucian asked. Devyn and Kian look at each other before looking at me. I shrug, letting them know it was up to them.

"Devyn."

"Kian."

"So if they're here for more protection does this mean you will be joining us at school Monday?" Valerico asked.

"Yes. What's better than one assassin?" Devyn asked. My brother's eyebrows furrowed.

"Three," Kian answers. My brothers nod their head understandingly. "Wherever Echo goes we go."

"Where were you both then?" Valentino asked.

"We had our own assignments we took because we needed the money. We were all around the world. Kian and I met up when we heard about the bounties and tracked Valeriana down," Devyn says.

"She needed us more than we need money to survive," Kian replied.

"How much does one assignment pay?" Matteo asked. My eyes go to him. He was leaning against the wall.

"A hundred grand or more. Depends on the target. Devyn and Kian work until they have a heavy sum before they stop working, then when they need money they go off and do it again," I say.

"How much do you have saved up?" Matteo asked me. I look at him.

"I have... nothing," I responded. Damien and Kolton have always hung onto my winnings from races and my assignments.

"What do you mean nothing?" Devyn asked. I let out a sigh.

"My house wasn't safe for my money so I always had Damien and Kolton hang onto it. I doubt I'm getting that back. I mean they didn't really give it to me anyways if I asked for it. They claimed I should save it for when I really needed it. At the fucking time it made sense now I realize I was never getting it back," I mutter with hatred.

"We'll get it back. Just tell us the amount," Kian says. I frown at that.

"I never kept track of how much," I state. Devyn and Kian look at each other.

"We'll estimate the amount," Devyn says. I smile at her. My eyes shift to Aristo and Verena. They walk into the room. They were both sweating and slightly out of breath.

"You are just now getting done with your workout?" Valentino asked.

"You've been in the gym all morning," Valrerico says. Verena chuckled before looking at Aristo.

"Yeah, Aristo thought he could do my workout since he claimed it was so easy. We switched our workout routines and we both were in over our heads. It was a nice workout but I'm not used to it. Will be doing it again though," Verena says. Aristo nods his head. He takes a drink from his bottle. Verena starts towards the stairs. As she gets closer Deyvn and Kian stand in front of me. Verena takes a step back. Her eyes lock with mine.

"She's going to the stairs," I chuckle at them.

"We know. We are watching you," Kian says. Verena slowly steps around them.

"You can watch me as long as you want but I will never be a threat to Valeriana," She says while staring them both straight in the eyes before walking up the stairs.

"I like her," Devyn and Kian say.

"Good because you are not going to sink our ship," Valerico says. Devyn and Kian look back at me.

"You and her?" Kian asked. I shrug my shoulders at the question.

"We approve," Devyn says. Kian nods his head. Devyn and Kian take a seat on the couch. I roll my eyes before jogging up the stairs. I walk into Verena's room. She looks at me before going to the bathroom. I follow her into the bathroom before pulling myself up onto the counter.

"My friends approved of you by the way," I say. Verena looked at me while she took her clothes off. The shower was already on.

"They don't even know me," she states.

"That's true but they like a person who can hold eye contact with them. Which you did. Not everyone can do it," I say. Verena chuckles before getting into the shower. The shower was glass so I still had an amazing view of her.

"They are fucking terrifying. They show no emotions. With them it's different from your brothers not showing emotions. You can just tell your friends have murder behind their eyes and are just waiting for you to slip up," Verena says. I smile at that.

"That's because they are. The moment they lay eyes on someone they have already planned 100 different ways they could kill them. They just wait for the go ahead which would be a wrong move that the person does that my friends don't like."

"I think I should be keeping an eye out for them," Verena jokes, causing me to laugh. Verena looks at me with a smile. Her eyes roam over my face before she washes the shampoo out of her hair. "I guess I feel better knowing they approve of me instead of not approving and then later find out we are already dating," Verena smirks. I smile at her before shaking my head.
