Valeriana's pov

We were back in school. We started today. Miss Wells was back today as well. Devyn and Kian were in all my classes. They made sure they were with me all day. When they get protective it's hard to breathe with them around. The bell rang for lunch. I stay in my seat causing Devyn and Kian to stay put. The students rush from the room.

"How was your break, Miss Wells?" I asked. She looked at me with a smile.

"It was good. Wiggles liked that I was home for a week. We went on many walks," She says. I nod my head.

"Sounds fun. My week was spent at our new place. Also my whole life was a fucking setup, Miss Wells. My dads are a part of the plan. My mother isn't dead and my two other friends are most likely working for my mother and my friend's dad. They are out to get me. Being here is probably a bad idea since I'm out in the open," I say. Miss Wells looks at me with a wince.

"That is terrible, V. How are you coping with that?" She asked. I let out a shaky breath before smiling.

"I'm hurt. The people I thought were there for me my whole life after mother were only there to do more damage. They listened to me and I thought they actually cared but now that I think back on everything I can see that it wasn't the same for them it was a game. My money I was saving up was always given to my dads because I trusted them. They never let me use it claiming I could need it later. Now I realize it was being handed over to mother. The power was always out. Mother didn't have a job. But thinking back on it. Every time I turned my money in the power would be on for a short time after that. I was paying the bills and didn't even realize it. I don't understand, why?" I say.

"Why, what?" She asked. My eyebrows furrowed before I looked at the table.

"Why me? Out of all my brothers it was me she did this to, but why? Was it because I was the only girl? The weakest, youngest? What was it? I just don't see how anyone could do what she did to their own kid. What makes it worse is she video taped the torture she put me through and sent it to Aurelio. All of it is sitting in a box in his office and what hurts the most is we didn't know what it was until he saw a glimpse of one of the videos. I haven't seen him since. Nor do I know if my older brothers watched more after I left. I thought the only reminder of what I went through would be my scars and my memory but I was wrong. Anyone can get a hold of those videos and they could be put anywhere on the internet. I just don't want to be haunted by it anymore than I am. It's so fucking stupid," I mutter.

"It's not stupid, Valeriana. It's already something traumatic to you. Not wanting to relive something like this is reasonable. You went through it once and you shouldn't have to go through it again. I know you Valeriana. You are a determined person, you are not going to let this get in the way of whatever you have planned, are you?" Miss Wells asked. I look at her with a smile on my face.

"No, which leads me to introduce you to Devyn and Kian. They are a part of my team," I say looking at them. They nod at Miss Wells.

"Team?" Miss Wells asked. I chuckle at her question.

"Well if you were in the underworld longer than a week and a few days you would know us as Halo. We are an assassin trio. One of the best youngest trio's out there. We've only been doing this for close to two years. A month before I met my brothers we split for a while. They both went off and did their own things. When they found out about the bounties on all three of my identities they met up and then started their search for me," I say. Miss Wells' eyes widened. She slowly nods her head.

"Yeah, I definitely see it. They haven't stopped glaring at me since they entered the classroom," Miss Wells says. I look at Devyn and Kian. They both had a deadly glare on their faces causing me to smile.

"Sorry about them. Nobody is safe while I'm in danger," I say.

"That should be the case. Don't trust anyone, Valeriana. Your priority is your own safety you need to ensure that by not trusting anyone. With that being said, do you trust your brothers?" Miss Wells asked. My chest tightened. I didn't think about whether they could be involved in mother's plan. Damn, this is difficult now.

"No, I can't. They could be a part of this. I don't know them well enough and even if I did that wouldn't matter. The people I trusted before were in on this. Nobody is not on my list. That includes you Miss Wells. You seem nice and all but count this as your warning. If I find out you are also planted in my path by, mother. I will be getting my revenge and trust me it isn't pleasant. I would hate for that to be the case... actually no I wouldn't. I will enjoy every pain filled second you are in. For your sake you better not be working for my enemies because I always kill my prey. If you aren't a part of this then my apologies for creating that fear you show on your face right now. I'll see you later," I say before standing up and walking out of the room with my friends.

"Threatening your teacher... Nice," Kian says. My jaw clenched. It would be a damn shame if she is my enemy right now. I actually like her. My brothers would crush me if they were working for mother. I really hope nobody from this town is against me. That would have to be my last straw. I would let Devyn and Kian kill me. To end everything before I go through more torture. It sounds bad but I can't go through that again for the rest of my life.

"We got this," Devyn says.

"We always do," Kian says. I nod my head before smiling. They put their fist together. I place mine against theirs.

"Let blood fall as if it's watering the land our enemies stand on," Kian says.

"Let screams of pain echo throughout the territory, for we shall not let anyone go," Devyn smirks.

"Let us stand victorious over all and any future enemies who try to come after any one of us," I say my line of our saying. We look at one another before chuckling.

"Let them all die, nobody gets set free," We say together.

"Damn, um this seems like a private moment between you all. Should we come back?" Matteo asked. Devyn, Kian and I drop our hands before looking at them.

"No, we're done," I say.

"Good, I got your food," Verena says, tossing me a burrito. My eyes widened.

"You guys have to try these. The best burrito I have ever had... Oh do you think after everything is over and you guys haven't betrayed me that we can get the lunch lady to work for us?" I asked.

"Yeah, I don't see why we couldn't," Valerico says.
