WHEN REALITY HITS PERFECT

CHAPTER 15

I slowly opened my door to get some water cause what I heard father say had drained me completely.

I was almost at the stairs when I saw a dark shadow infront of Mother and father's room. I walked towards there slowly,careful not to make a sound and was surprised to see Katie on the floor.

She was sweating profusely and her breathing was quite fast. She looked like she had watched a horror movie. Oh no had she heard everything?

I was walking toward her when she immediately got up and ran to her room. I chased 7 her and tried to open the door but she had locked it.

I ran my hand into my hair trying to think. Was she afraid of us now?

Mother was the worst. She was crazy infact because of money. Dad came out and saw me standing infront of Katie's room and gave me a questioning look then I sighed.

I sat with Dad in his study and told him about seeing Katie infront of his room.

"She may not trust us again" he said in dismay and I huffed

"Who wouldn't after hearing all that?" I asked him in my usual voice and his eyes widened

"You heard it too?" He asked looking troubled

"Why wouldn't I?, you guys were speaking as if you had speakers in your throat" I said and he ran his hand through his hair

"What do we do now?" I asked and he looked at me

"We need to have a word with Katie" he said and we were infront of her room with Father infront of the door.

"Katie" he called but there was no response

"Katie please can I have a word with you?" He asked but still nothing.

We stood there for a while before we heard the door click open and Katie slowly walked out of her room and shut the door behind. She looked at me but just for a second and moved her eyes away.

We walked to Dad's study and took our seats where he tried yo explain everything

"Katie I am so sorry for all that has happened for the barely two days that you've been here. I apologise for what ever you've been through and whatever you've heard" Father said looking truly sorry.

Katie gave a small smile and took father's hand

"Mr. Astor its not your fault. I know your intentions are completely pure but there are some things that are making it seem bad" she said so calmly to him and Dad looked pleased

"You're a smart girl and looking at you you've got plans. So what are your plans?" He asked and she sighed

"Mr. Astor, I'd like to go to my aunt's place for a while" she said and father rose a brow up

"You have an aunt here in Florida who you really know?" He asked and she nodded

"My Dad's sister. We even planned to visit her in Florida as a family for Christmas but sadly that couldn't happen" she said the last part with sad eyes and Father pressed her hand for comfort

"I'm sorry about your Dad but don't worry I promise to have him back to you before this Christmas ends" Dad said and she looked at him very grateful

But then suddenly, I spoiled the mood by saying

"No"

"No?" She asked

"No" I repeated again

"What's up with this 'no' business Son?" Father asked and I broke my knuckles
