CHAPTER 17

We were soon infront of the mall and I looked at it surprised

"I owe you some shoes don't I?" Jace asked and being back to the mall suddenly reminded me off our first shopping together

"Jace you don't owe me anything. In actual sense I'm the one who owes you a lot" I admitted as we walked into the mall and he scoffed

"Katie, the only thing you owe me right now is an apology" he said and and I smiled

"Then I owe you nothing" I said. I knew just how much I worried this guy, I could give him a heart attack.

We were soon at a shoe boutique looking at different types of shoe brands when Jason suddenly stopped nagging about me choosing too much heels.

"Jason what's wrong?" I asked as I looked in the direction of his gaze. Two men dressed in suit were both looking at a nike sports shoe. Maybe it was weird for him?

"Katie we have to get out of here" he said and I looked at him confused

"Why?, we just got here" I said

"Those men are in the Xander army" he said and I felt my heart pop out of my chest when he said that.

"What, how do you know that?" I asked and he shifted his gaze again to them

"On the left side of the neck of the person in the Xander army is the tattoo of an 'x' which is there as we speak" he whispered and truly there was an 'x'on their necks.

"But I'm Iris not Katie they can't recognise me right?" I asked but he shook his head

"Though you've disguised yourself you're not safe from people who've mastered your form and know your favourite food even in their sleep. Just contacts and a change of your hair can't hide you" he said.

"But maybe we can add a bit more changes to you" he thought aloud

"Come on" he said then we left to pay for the shoes quietly and left the shoe boutique

We went to a saloon to buy a really short brown wig and to a clothing store to change our uniforms. But Jace dragged us to the male section.

"We're choosing your clothes first?" I asked him but he shook his head as he handed me a blue hoodie

"We're choosing our clothes" he said and then he explained his plan.

"For members of the Xander army to be here shows that they know that you're now in Florida and they've tracked us down to the mall. There are more than two of them here but they're spread out anywhere and everywhere. We need a fool proof disguise that would make them not recognise you even when standing right in front of them.

"But boys clothes, where do I change?" I asked and he shrugged as he handed me some pants

"You can change right infront of me if you like, I don't mind" he said with a grin and I blinked twice

"Since when did you get so dirty?" I asked him

"Since you became my wife to be" he stated plainly but you could see his eyes dancing with mischief. This guy was really something

"Well no thank you I wouldn't" I said and he pretended to look bumped out

"Fine you can go behind the curtain over there" he said as he pointed the red curtain at the back and I mentally cursed myself for not seeing it

I went and got myself changed and managed to squeeze my hair into the wigcap, wore a sneaker that we had bought at the shoe boutique and came out to meet Jace already changed
