Chapter 24 (the end)

It was a warm day of May a few years later, y/n and Hobie were walking in the park near their apartment complex. 
The park was full of children running and playing, their screams drowning out those of their parents, telling them not to run. 
As they walked, the sun warmed their faces and Hobie told her some new things about his past. 
-So you moved here after your canon event happened?- she asked, squeezing his hand, letting him know she was there.
She knew how he had felt, losing a your best friend then everything  you knew and loved. 
It had been hard for both of them. 
-Yeah. Didn't I tell you this before? I was sure I did.- he told her, a bit perplexed. 
-No, you most surely didn't, hun. Go on, keep going.- y/n urged him to continue. 
-I just couldn't stay there. Everything reminded me of her. I just couldn't bear it.- he admitted, looking at some kids sliding down the slide, then he looked at her with a smile -Sorry, didn't mean to bring this up, love.- 
-No, no. Don't stop. I love hearing you talk.- she said, leaning her head on his shoulder. 
He took a deep breath then decided to add something. 
-I didn't live far from here. But it's far enough so I don't see anyone I knew before.- he said, in a bittersweet tone. 
Their spider senses went off, suddenly a kid fell and scratched his knee.
-So you don't see your family often?-  she asked, since it was the first time he'd talk so openly about his family. 
-No, but that's fine. At least they won't get in trouble because of me, y'know?- he replied trying to look at the positive side of things, with a shrug -But hey, I've got you now. That's what matters to me.- 
They smiled at each other sweetly. 
-Oh, I love you.- she said to him, tilting her head a bit. 
-I love you too.- he said it back, caressing her cheek.
As they kept walking, y/n out of the blue, decided she wanted ice cream so she asked him if he wanted some, he just shook his head, thanking her. 
-I'll be back in a few minutes. You sure you don't want to come inside?- y/n asked, letting go of his hand.
-Yeah, I'm sure, darling, thanks.- he replied, smiling at her.
As y/n walked into the ice cream shop, Hobie sat on a bench in front of it. 
From the windows he saw her waiting in line to order. 
In front of her was a woman, with two kids, one in her arms and one that was holding her hand.
Hobie looked at them and just for a moment the thought of starting a family didn't seem so odd and unachievable, even for him and y/n. 
Also, Hobie knew she really liked having kids around and was also quite good with them.
In fact every time Mayday was over to their place, he could feel the empty space she left behind after Peter came and picked her up. 
-Hey, hey. I'm back.- y/n said approaching him.
Her voice brought him back to reality. 
-Oh hey. All done?- he asked, looking at her. 
-Mhmh.- she nodded, but looking at him she noticed something was wrong -Something's troubling you?-
-No, darling.- Hobie gave her a smile -Nothing, don't worry.- he smiled, taking her hand.
More years passed and one day y/n was woken up by someone jumping on the bed. 
Since she didn't open her eyes and pretended to be sleeping, two voices spoke.
After last night's  mission she needed that sleep.
-Look, that bruise there.- one murmured.
-Do you think she is hurt bad?-
-I don't think so. Let's wake her up. Moom! Mom, wake up.- a first voice said. 
-Mommy, wakey, wakey.- a second voice echoed.
y/n opened her eyes, finding in front of her two kids.
-Morning, babies.- she smiled, rubbing her eyes and yawning. 
The two, seeing her smile, threw themselves on her, hugging her, which she reciprocated immediately.
-Kids, leave mom get up calmly, leave her alone for a few minutes.- Hobie said, leaning on the door frame, with his arms crossed and an amused expression on his face
-Are you okay, mom?-
-Yes, honey. Everything's fine. It was very easy. Nothing to worry about.- she replied.
-Why don't you go and play together a bit? Weren't you about to build a castle with Lego?- Hobie asked, looking at their firstborn, Idris -And weren't you ready to pretend to be a princess that needed to be saved by the knight?- he asked, looking at their second born, Nova.
-No, daddy.- the little one complained -The princess can save herself. She's secretly a spider woman so she has superpowers.- she replied proudly, looking at her mother with a smile -Right, mommy?- 
-Of course, sweetie.- y/n nodded, caressing her cheek. 
-Let's go play, No.- the boy said going towards the door -The last one to arrive in our room loses.- he said, running.
-Wait for me, Dri. It's not fair.- she yelled, chasing him. 
y/n stood up and gave Hobie a kiss on the lips.
-Goodmorning, darling. Sorry about the kids. I tried to keep them in the other room as much as possible, but you know how they are.- he said, putting an arm around her shoulders
-Morning, dear. Don't worry about it.- she said, then she smelled something in the air -Were you making breakfast?- she asked.
-Yes, I was. The kids already ate. I was just waiting for you, so you could tell everything about last night.- he smiled at her, as they walked to the kitchen.
-Oh god. I love you so much.- y/n smiled -Thanks a lot, dear.-
-I love you too and you're welcome.- he replied.
Every time she said 'I love you', Hobie's heart was pounding. like the first time.
Their life in the last few years with the arrival of the kids, they had found a way to fit their life as superheroes and their life as parents.
-Don't you have to play with the others tonight?- y/n asked, remembering it.
-Yeah, around 8 pm.- he replied, as the kids walked in the room.
-Mommy, can we go and see daddy? Pleaseee.- Idris asked.
-Yeah, we want to, mommy.- Nova added.
-Alright, if you really want.- y/n replied.
-Yes! Thanks!- the two kids started jumping around, then hugged them.
-Let's get ready, Dri.- Nova said, running in her room.
-Be right back.- Idris said, run away too.
y/n couldn't help but smile at their excitement.
-Are you okay?- Hobie asked, looking at her.
-How could I not? I'm so lucky to have you and the kids in my life. I couldn't ask for anything better.- she replied, hugging him.
-i?m so lucky to have you as well, darling.- he replied -I love you.-
-I love you too, Hobs.- y/n said, kissing him.
-Eww. Can you just stop?- Idris said, covering his eyes.
-Dri, don't be rude.- Nova scolded him -Just keep going.- she said with a smile, to their parents.
y/n and Hobie couldn't help but laugh.
