Chapter 18: Where It Hurts The Most

It was Sunday afternoon, and we had just finished bringing my stuff over to his place. He was grinning so hard I couldn’t help but to smile as well. He was so damn adorable :)

He was fixing up a few of the drawers I put my clothes in and I was sitting on the bed watching him. He kept glancing back at me with that silly grin on his face. When he was finished he leaned against his dresser. “So the guys are coming over tonight to hang out.”

“Okay.”  I smiled and he walked out the room to do whatever.

A little later Craig and Jacob came, and Jacob brought Bella. I wasn’t even pissed that he did, because I didn’t mind hanging out with her anymore. She wasn’t snobby like I thought she was, she was just shy.  We were both sitting at the table as the boys played (rowdily, might I add) Madden. We were talking about life and stuff and then I decided to ask her a question.

“So why did you and Jacob break up?” I asked and she looked at me with a confused expression.

“We didn’t…”

“Well no I mean I know you’re together now but I mean like..”

“We haven’t broken up… at all. Did he say we did?”

Okay so this was either one of two things. Either Jacob lied about them breaking up just to excuse he and Christina or Isabella was crazy. I had a feeling it was the first one.

“Um, no. No I just thought- You know since you weren’t at the New Years party I just thought… that.”

“Oh no, I had to go out of town for family.” She smiled.

That cheating little curly-haired sneak.

I smirked to myself, always happy when I had something to blackmail him with. “Oh. My bad.” Chris called my name from the couch.

“Aye Mel, can you get me a coke pleeeeeease.” He said not taking his eyes off the screen. I went over to his refrigerator and picked up a coke and walked over to him. I went back over to Isabella.

“So, what made you want to move in with Chresanto?” She asked. “Jake thought you would never do it in a million years.”

My gaze wandered over to Chris. I watched him as he whopped and yelled at the screen and high fived Craig and attacked his controller with his fingers. I couldn’t help but smile at how silly they all were. He glanced back at me and smiled back.

“Melanie?” Bella said.

“Huh? Oh um, sorry. What’d you say again?”

“Nothing.” She smirked at me, as if she’d seen that little exchange Chris and I just had.

After the guys were done with their game, it was Jacob and Craig’s turn to play (Chris lost lolol) He walked over to me and leaned on the table. “So.” He said.

“So.” I replied.

“So.”

“So you lost.”

“Yea yea yea, he got lucky.” He mumbled. We both turned our heads toward Bella.

“I’m gonna… go… over there.” She smiled and walked over to the couch and sat by Jacob. Chris and I looked at each other and laughed. He pulled me up and sat down in my seat and I sat on his lap and wrapped my arms around his neck. He leaned in and pressed his lips to mine softly. He then grabbed a nacho from my plate in front of us. He stuffed it in his mouth and a smile spread across his face as he looked at me while he chewed. I grinned at him. I loved these moments, when we didn’t say anything to each other but we still communicated. I never had that with anyone.
