Life is funny. It really is. I never knew the girl I tried to avoid back in 7th grade was now my girlfriend. I never knew that I would be kissing her outside the police station where her father works.

I never knew that I would be saving her from a fate that is far from predictable. There are a lot of things I didn't know about life. One thing I do know, however, are my feelings. Especially when I couldn't find Sophia.

I was walking to my car, obeying the orders I had gotten from Sophia. I expected her to be back soon. She was just checking her stuff to make sure that she hadn't forgotten anything. She was just being her usual responsible self.

When I had gotten to my car, I had put all of my things inside and I looked around. That's when I knew something was wrong. Sophia was nowhere in sight. I couldn't hear her, I couldn't see her. There was no sign of her.

I locked my car door and went back to the last place I had seen Sophia. I had gotten to the band room, and I saw that Sophia was not there. That's when fear started to build up inside me. She wouldn't leave without notifying me.

She's not that kind of person. Not only that, but she didn't need to meet any of her teachers. She was on top of her work, she had stunning grades, and she was always on the good side of her teachers.

I started to think, "She could be anywhere. Just walk around and you can find her." I was just about to do that, when I heard faint talking in the band room. I thought there was a person inside there, so I decided to go and ask them if they had seen Sophia.

I opened the door, and what I saw nearly caused me to faint. I saw Roman Lerman, the guy from my science class who had been checking out Sophia. But he wasn't standing there.  He was going to do something horrible to her.

Her eyes were closed, and the immediate fear of her death washed over me. But also the thought that if she was dying, then there would be a chance to save her. There would be a chance for me to keep her safe.

"What is going on here?" I asked. Roman suddenly got up, and I lunged at him. I punched him in the face and twisted his arm behind his back. Roman fell to the ground, defeated. I knelt over and put two fingers on the side of Sophia's neck in the hopes of finding a pulse.

I felt a faint throbbing, and relief washed over me. I still had her. I hadn't lost her. I started lightly slapping her face, and she opened her beautiful eyes and looked at me. Once I saw that she was alive and conscious, I helped her up from off the ground. She got up, adjusted her shirt, and ran into my arms.

All the worry flooded out of me. It felt so good to hold her in my arms. I held her for as long as I could. Having her in my arms is the best thing ever. There are really no words to describe the relief I felt when she ran into my arms.

Once we were done, I noticed that she didn't have a shirt on. Once we were done, I noticed that she was bleeding a little bit. My mom gave me a first aid kit in the beginning of the year in case anything bad happened. I took a Band-Aid out and applied it to her neck.

She flinched a little bit because of what happened, and I was as gentle as I could be. I drove her down to the police station where her dad works, and she told him the whole story.

After that, I kissed her. I did what I wanted to do for so long. Just kiss her. My mind was telling me to kiss her. I lost all self control and I did it. And it was the best kiss ever. She was my first kiss. And I think she made it one of the best ones ever. Screw all those movie kisses. This was 10x better.

After that, the relationship was just bliss. We were madly in love, and Sophia even hosted an assembly raising awareness about murder, where I was honored. I didn't feel honored because I prevented murder. I felt honored because I got to save a precious life like Sophia's. After that, all I could think of is the trial. I wanted to convict the bastard and send him away for a long time.
