APART FROM THE USUAL lifestyle of the Call Family, Leah found herself feeling happier and happier bit by bit, though as the snow settled in La Push she never expected herself to have a life as happy as her best friend, Gracie.
Leah never really ventured anyway, but this late season she decided to discover Port Angeles for herself. As she exited a rusty bookshop, she decided to take a peek at the small pop up indie tables across the road, resting along the pier beside the water. She leaned into a bouquet of sunflowers, smelling the sweet scent that emitted from her favourite flowers with a honeyed smile to match the beauty of those that she held. However the price did not match the soulful yellow in her hands, for she did not have the money for them and simply put them back, forcing a little smile at the shop lady.
She slowly made her way to the next table which held different designs of indigenous trinkets and poetry pocket books. She glanced over her shoulder to spot a boy purchasing those very sunflower's she held, but before he turned to look at her she moved her gaze to a bronze anklet. As she readied herself to move forward once again, a tap on her shoulder disrupted her empty thoughts.
Turning around, the first thing she spotted was a bouquet of sunflowers and as her eyes met his, she knew exactly what was happening.
There were snippets of what she assumed to be their future ; following the sunset on the beach of La Push, hand-in hand with one another. Another displayed the unknown boy's wide smile tucking a small sunflower behind Leah's ear whilst the third image showed him in awe, beside Gracie, of the wolf pack in their forms. Multiple mini-second clips flashed before her vision sharpened on his caramel eyes.
The boy, still clutching the bouquet of sunflowers, looked in shock at first before channeling his mouth into a wide smile.
"What was that?" He asked, softly watching Leah's actions closely.
She looked like she wanted to bolt, but her feet were rooted to the wooden planks of the pier beneath her. She continued to examine his dark features of beautifully tanned skin matching hers as well as thick, dark curly hair.
"Do you have superpowers?" He whispered to Leah, who'd normally back away from any closeness.
"No!" She retorted, then looked around. "If you come with me, I'll explain."
The boy paused, his wide smile still evident. "Wait! What's your name, first?"
"Leah. Leah Clearwater."
The boy extended his hand with the bouquet of sunflowers to her. "Well, Leah...My name is Dylan Mortelle as these were for you before you bewitched me."
Leah matched his smile, taking the bouquet of her favourite flowers and just like she saw in her vision she decided to switch the roles, instead she took the smaller sunflower, plucked it and placed in behind the boy's ear.
"Bewitched or falling in love?" Leah asked, smiling at Dylan with a sunflower behind his ear and glistening eyes reflecting the honey of the sunflower.
Dylan wrapped an arm around her shoulder as they both walked down the alley of pop up stores, "With you, they are the same."
to finally break the connection from Sam meant the world to Leah, but she had no idea that imprinting would feel as good as this. She now knew what true love felt like and suddenly her happy future wasn't as untouchable as she had originally thought it had been.
With Dylan, she knew her life would be full of honeyed sunflowers.
