nini walked into her office that held a recording space along with a keyboard on her desk ready for her use.
she dropped her bag on the table and sat at her chair, taking a deep breath as she took her notebook and started working on the song she was meant to give in soon
nini worked at a recording company - not as a real celebrity - but as an apprentice music composer. so, she never actually was able to release a song herself, but it was a step in the right direction to a career as a musician.
"knock knock!"
she glanced up to see the raven-haired boy with a smile as he walked in.
"hey ej,"
"did you finish the song?" he asks excitedly
nini looks at him in confusion "it was given to me yesterday."
"yeah, but you're like a freakishly fast writer," he tells her, sitting down on the desk
"what do you want ej?" she asks knowingly with a sigh
ej opens his mouth "why would you think i wanted something?"
nini raises an eyebrow and folds her arms, giving him a look before he sighs
"i need to ride with you guys after work to the sugar house-"
"why didn't you just ask gina?" she laughs
"because you're here right now." he says evidently before turning to leave the office as she gets back to working on some lyrics
ej reaches the door before stopping in his tracks and turning back around "oh-and-lucas is also coming-later!"
nini widens her eyes and snaps her head up "ej!"
but he already closed the door behind him and she groaned in embarrassment and dread.

the full day of work, nini couldn't concentrate because she tried to prepare herself on acting normally in front of lucas.
she heard her phone go off and took it from her desk to see that gina messaged her about arriving and got her bag and the rest of her things before making her way out of the office, locking it behind her and making her way towards the elevator to go down.
when the elevator doors slid open, she smiled a goodbye to the lady at the front desk and saw gina's car parked with her sitting in the driving seat and ej in the passenger seat: leaving nini having to sit in the back with lucas.
taking a nervous breath, she opened the door, being met by lucas' brown eyes and charming smile as she sat down
"hey neens," gina sings with a grin
nini glared at her best friend as ej snorted a laugh, gina starting the car as she spoke away with her boyfriend about random topics as they usually do, nini and lucas staying silent
"how was your day?" he asks her, breaking the silence from the back of the car while gina and ej kept going with their debate of whether folklore or evermore was more iconic
nini looked at him, opening her mouth "uh-g-good. what about-you?"
lucas nods "it was okay,"
nini puts on a small smile and the two return to silence before gina speaks up, noticing how awkward the two were being together
"hey neens i never saw that sweatshirt you're wearing before. it's really nice. isn't it lucas?" she asks
nini widened her eyes and opened her mouth but lucas beat her to it
"yeah, it suits you." he says
she feels the heat rise to her cheeks and looks down "thank you."
as she looks up at the window, she takes a deep breath and watches it keep going, although she could've sworn that she felt someone sneak glances at her every so often.
