it had been a week and ricky and nini still haven't spoken to each other. they both wanted to really badly; but nini's anger and pain as well as ricky's guilt as overpowering.
nini now was at work, shuffling her papers around as she took a deep breath and ran her hands through her hair in exhaustion. she hasn't properly slept these past two days.
"hey neens," ej smiles sympathetically, walking in to give her a few files
nini returns the gesture, but ej sees that it doesn't quite meet her eyes
"have you talked to ricky yet?" he asks with a sigh
the girl takes a deep breath "our friendship is obviously not as important to him so why should i bother?"
"because you love him." he tells her
she stays silent for a few seconds, her chest going tight at the thought, and nods with her eyes stinging "yeah. and i hate that i do. because i've felt like this for years and i couldn't ever do anything about it."
"why don't you now?" ej asks her
she shudders a breath and looks down "i'm just not ready."
ej frowns and opens his mouth to say something but gets cut off when his phone rings, one of his coworkers calling him from another floor
with a small nod, he disappeared out of nini's office and she let out a breath, leaning back in her chair before her phone went off.
