nini hummed under her breath as she wrote down in her notebook, working in her office quietly before a knock at her door was heard
she looked up and saw ej - looking slightly pale and worried - at her door, holding a few papers
"hey ej," she smiles, taking her headphones off
"h-hey-uh-jefferson wanted me to give you-these," he mutters, walking in and placing the papers on her desk
"thanks...?" nini says wearily as she looked up at him
ej nodded, standing there for a few seconds before turning around and heading towards the door, stopping for a few seconds as if he wanted to say something, then continuing his way out
"okay, get back in here," nini exclaims, causing for the raven-haired boy to peek back in
he cleared his throat "uh-what's-up?"
nini raises her eyebrows "me? what's up with you? you look like crap."
ej sighs "uh-it's-it's nothing-"
"ej." nini says firmly
the boy sighs "d-did you see gina last night?"
nini knits her eyebrows together "i saw her this morning, but she left for work in a hurry."
"didn't she drop you off?" ej asks
"no-i walked since i had something to do-what happened?" nini asks confused
ej lets out a breath and puts a smile on "nothing, i'll-catch you later at the sugar house,"
and with that, he disappeared out of her office, leaving nini to wonder what had happened between ej and gina during their date
the sound of her phone interrupts her thoughts and she picks it up to see that ricky arrived, making her way out of her office and down the building to let him in
"hey ricksters," she beams "my best friend since kindergarten. my person. my partner in crime. my favorite person in the world."
ricky shakes his head "no,"
nini groans "please?! i never asked for anything in our entire friendship!"
"okay, one: that's a total lie, and two: lucas wouldn't want me to tell you," he says
"aha!" nini exclaims happily "so it's about me."
ricky opens his mouth "w-no-"
"you need to work on your lying," nini grins "okay, what did he say? was it about what he was going to ask me? did he drop a hint?"
ricky sighs as he continues to listen to her ramble on with different questions when entering the restaurant in the building and taking a seat at a table
"neens, i'm not talking," he sighs
nini lets out a huff before a light smirk appears on her face and she lets out a dramatic sigh "that's a shame, i was going to tell you something about maya, but-"
she keeps her eyes on her menu and ricky glances up at her curiously
"i know what you're doing." he says
"what am i doing?" she asks innocently
ricky rolls his eyes playfully "there's nothing about maya."
"well, it has to be information for information, tit for tat," she smirks
"you're seriously going to quote outer banks right now?" ricky asks
