"How do you mean?" He stuttered feigning innocence.

"Spencer... Don't forget I know you. I told your mother I would look out for you" He was slightly taken aback, by the fact that Elena had just called him Spencer, which she hasn't done since he had gotten his doctorate, and that she had been speaking to his mother about him.

"I know parties aren't your thing, and that you are adamant the FBI is for you, but in the future, you might want something else. There is something bigger out there for you. I know something is missing for you. How do you expect to find it, if you don't give yourself the opportunity to?" She paused again seeing Spencer's disapproving frown. "The FBI is amazing and I'm not saying that isn't your thing and that you should leave that behind. Absolutely not. You love and I'm glad that you have something you love. I also know that I speak for both myself and your mother that we know there is something, or maybe even someone, you might just love more and doesn't stop you from being an agent. After your history..." she paused, not bringing up specifics. "You owe it to yourself to give yourself a chance." She continued to look at Spencer, whose eyes were fixed to the ground.

She sighed,

"I can see that I have chosen the wrong time to bring this up. Forget I said anything," she reassured him. He lifted his gaze and gave Elena an appreciative smile. Elena had been friends with his mother since college. She had really helped his mother out when she was struggling with her Schizophrenia. But most of all he was most appreciative for the support she gave him and his mother when he decided to institutionalise her. He was just opening his mouth to thank her for dropping the subject when movement inside the lab caught everyone's attention.

The group that was once huddled around the computer were now all dispersed across the room, although Spencer was sure a few were now missing.

"Everything all okay in there?" Elena asked her voice booming through the speakers in the lab.

One of the researchers came up to the window and pressed the switch board on,

"Almost Professor Croft. We are just calibrating the sensors and checking the data logs. Dr Daris has gone to fetch a backup terabyte hard drive from her equipment in the office, then we should be ready." Elena was nodding back when the researcher head turned. "I think we are ready," he replied, moving away from the window and towards the newcomer in the room.

That's when Spencer saw the face he has been searching for earlier. He saw Gia hand the research a hard drive and a cable and he returned by handing her a lab coat. She pulled on the lab coat over her matching grey joggers and sweatshirt. Spencer couldn't help but laugh when she untucked her two tight French braids from her lab coat and almost hit another researcher in the face. He couldn't help but admire her when she was apologising profusely to her victim. She would likely have continued to apologise if Anna had not come up to her and told her the sensors had been calibrated.

Gia followed Anna to the computer and leaned her arms on the chairs, checking the screen. Spencer's head tilted to the right as he watched her forehead scrunch in concentration.

"Okay, yeah. I guess we'll just have to see now," Gia sighed.

"Good luck," Elena chimes, drawing the attention of all the researchers to the observing room. They all turned to each other nervously nodding at one another. Gia returned Elena's good fortune with a smile.

Within a few moments, silence fall across the observing room and the students lined up in the hallway. The noises that could be heard were mechanical grumbles and communication amongst the researchers.

It seemed a long while had passed when the lights in the room dimmed and big screens along the back of the room displayed real time brain scan imagery. All the researchers were stood along the same plane talking in hushed tones. In this time Spencer could see Gia bouncing from computer to computer typing away, and periodically conferring with fellow researchers.
