Spencer flinched as sun beamed onto his face. He groaned and turned his face away from the light. He shifted his body to the side and reached out for Gia. But instead of feeling the warmth off Gia's skin he grasped onto cold sheets. His eyes flew open. He sat up looking around the room for any evidence of Gia.

Spencer jumped off the bed and threw on some pants. He rushed around the apartment, hoping that Gia would still be there.

She wasn't. The only evidence of her presence was note she left taped to his coffee pot.

I can't stay. Sorry. x G

Spencer's heart sank. He ran back to his room and fished his phone out of the pocket of his trousers, which were strewn across his bedroom floor. He attempted to call Gia, but the phone was switched off.

Spencer got dressed as quick as he could and drove as fast as he could to her hotel. Upon his arrival he raced up to her floor expecting to find agents stationed at the door. But there were none. He banged on her door. But there was no response. Spencer repeatedly pushed the elevator button, hoping it would come up quicker. Eventually, he abandoned the elevator and began his pursuit down the stairs. He was out of breath when he ran straight into the front desk.

"Room 1945, Dr Daris. Where is she?" Spencer slammed his hands on the counter.

The receptionist looked back at him with her eyes wide.

Spencer sighed in annoyance and flashed his FBI badge to her, to rush her along. She immediately began looking it up on the system. "She has already checked out Sir."

Spencer groaned and pushed his way past the hotel guests returning from breakfast.

He ignored everyone as he stamped up the stairs to Hotch's office. He barged in without knocking.

"Hotch," Spencer panted.

"Reid?" Hotch froze in his seat.

"Hotch, I lied and took Gia out of the hotel and ..."

"Reid," Hotch placed his pen on the table. "I know."

"You do," Spencer breath hitched.

"Yes." Hotch resumed his paperwork.

"Okay. So where is she?" Spencer prompted as he collapsed in the seat in front of Hotch's desk.

"What do you mean?" Hotch asked slowly.

"You moved her to another safe house," Spencer presumed.

Hotch paused again putting down his pen and clasping his hands. "Reid, we aren't handling that case anymore. Gia and the researchers were cleared last night. They have been released form FBI custody. They have moved on now."

"They left," Spencer whispered, realising the true meaning behind Gia's message.

Hotch nodded.

Spencer slowly got up from the chair and left Hotch's office. He dragged his feet to his desk and sat in his chair, dazed as he processed the information. He sat like that for close to an hour, until he sees Lochlan leave Rossi's office. Spencer shot up from his seat and called out to him. Lochlan ignored shouting and bee lined for the exit. Spencer zig-zagged through bullpen and caught up with Lochlan.

"You guys are leaving?" Spencer asked.

"I am," Lochlan replied, keeping his eyes forward.

"And Gia."

Lochlan dropped his head. "Dr Reid, I don't want this to come across harsh, but this was her idea. We are all leaving. We are leaving separately. We aren't travelling together. Nor are we to make it a habit to contact each other regularly. I suggest you abide by the same rules." Lochlan squared his shoulder and turned to face Spencer. "Don't contact her Spencer. Don't try and find her. It's better for both of you. Don't make it harder than it already is."

The elevator door slid open and Lochlan escaped Spencer, leaving him frowning in the elevator lobby.

"How can I do that," Spencer pondered out loud. "I can't stop thinking about her."

Spencer licked his lips, in deep thought and then bounced into Penelope's office.

"Garcia, can you do me favour?"

"What's bothering my pretty genius?" she asked cheerily.

"Can you look up Gia's file?" He asked, sheepishly.

Penelope's mouth twitched into a smile. "You know Reid, trust when I say it's not a good idea look up your girlfriend. It gets messy." She tapped at her keyboard, regardless.

"She's not my girlfriend," Spencer mumbled as he pulled a seat up so that he could see the screen.

"Uh... that's odd." Penelope squinted at the screen.

"What?" spencer queried.

"So much of the file is redacted. It wasn't before."

"Can you remove the censoring?"

"It's pretty hardcore, Reid. I'm sure this wasn't here when I last checked the file."

"Is there anything you can do?"

"Give me a minute." Penelope pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose. "There is this," she said out loud and move the screen for Spencer to see.

Spencer shrugged his shoulder. "Yeah, she is from England, of course she would have a file with MI5 and MI6."

"No Reid, this is dated from today."

Spencer scrunched is nose in contemplation. "Read that number out to me."

Penelope did as she was instructed.

"Thanks, Garcia." Spencer got off his seat and left her office. He dialled the number and leaned against the wall in the hallway.

He waited as the phone rang through with no answer.

Spencer sighed and went back to his desk burying himself in paperwork.

Later that evening as he packed his desk up to go home, he dialled the number once more, slotting the phone between his shoulder and his ear. He continued to stack the files up on his desk. When the ringing stopped, he thought that the call had been left unanswered again, but the call did not cut off.

"Hello?" A soft voice sung through the receiver.

"You didn't stay," Spencer whispered, stopping all his actions and freezing in his spot.

"Spencer," Gia sighed into the phone.

"I wanted you to stay," Spencer continued.

"I know," Gia sounded defeated. "You should not have called me Spencer. You..."

"I had to," he pleaded.

"Spencer, please let me finish. You gave me a reason to stay. But I couldn't. I can't. Please don't try and find me." Her voice was quiet but rushed. The line cut off and Spencer hung his head in defeat.
