Arabella's POV:

The minute I stepped into my new apartment, I facetimed Aunt Bekah, D and Hope to show them around. Courtesy of Bex, and a little compulsion, my place was already decorated. I have to admit, for an original, she has taste - even with such a last minute job.

I hooked my phone up to the speakers, blasting fleetwood mac as I unpacked the last of my things.

It was perfect, upon entry you're immediately welcomed by a cozy kitchen to the right with a gorgeous brick accent wall visible above the counter. The living room is my favourite, mainly because of spectacularly large window scattering specs of natural light in each corner of the living room and kitchen alike.

My bathroom has a classic white and dark grey colour scheme with hints of copper accents whilst the bedroom modelled a sage green feature wall between the white. Everything was perfect, the entire apartment looks like my pinterest board- I made a mental note to text Aunt Bex my praise later. I added my own final touches in the form of framed images of my friends and family, along with photos from my travels. I even displayed a piece Hope and I had collaborated on in my room.

Sprawled on the sofa, I had spent the rest of the afternoon watching movies, and before I knew it the sun had set. I wanted to go for a run, remembering the 'Beacon Hills Reserve' sign from the taxi ride from the airport. I grabbed my empty bag and threw on a baby pink sports bra paired with high waisted black leggings and running shoes, finally setting off jogging towards my destination.

---

When I was sure there was no possiblilty of being caught, I folded up my clothes and stuffed them into the bag piling leaves over them so they couldn't be seen if anyone was to pass by. Any humans at least.

Not to gloat, but I would say I'm getting pretty good at shifting. I had done this so many times, it was almost painless. The pain that remained was swiftly dulled when I took my wolf form.

Taking off further into the reserve, I felt free. Hope and I had always embraced our werewolf side, it made us feel closer to our parents, we felt comfortable with who we were. It was them who taught us control, them who motivated us through the pain of our bones breaking for the very first time. It was them who lead us to the woods, where the four of us roamed blissfully basking in our nature.

---

I'd only been running around 30 minutes before the incessant barking of police dogs diverted my attention, immediately darting towards my clothes and shifting back into my human form.

I gathered my hair into a messy high ponytail, jogging towards the edge of the reserve. Without the aid of my supernatual hearing, I heard a shout followed by a short growl originating from the direction of which I had just emerged.

That's where I saw him.

A tanned boy with a mop of dark hair sat comfortably on his head; a petrified look etched across his face. He was running towards me.

Although I concealed my frame behind a tree, I could hear his heart pounding rapidly in his chest. I watched as he tripped over a branch, his frame falling to the ground- until my gaze was averted to the pair of glowing eyes lurking in the shadows making its way towards the boy.

Without a second thought, I raised my left wrist "motus" I mumbled, throwing the creature back a few meters before running towards the boy.

"come on!" I called, holding out a hand for him to take.

Hesitating for a split second, the crooked-jawed boy clasped my hand as I dragged him to his feet.

I pulled away as we ran towards the road, the glowing eyes were no longer trailing us, it had simply dispersed into the darkness.
