Freedom
Silence fills her ears but still she has no peace
She closes her eyes but there is no sleep
She wills the morning to come but the night creeps
The wind dances on the ends of her hairs
Around her the sheets and curtains talk in a hush
The trees try to tell her something but she doesn't hear because they talk in a rush.
For a minute everything is still
Then like a lady trying to steal the show, the sky starts to cry.
The thunder claps loudly trying to soothe the sky with a lullaby
And the lightning is so quick and bright it stole her vision like a thief in the night.
Her mind is awake through all this,
Thoughts running wild,
Craving for a single night to come alive.
She lays still and plays dead,
She imagines herself in a place where the peace never ends.
Before she knows it, the morning comes.
The sun is out and she feels numb.
She finally gets her peace and she knows the time has come.
For her to face the issues that hinder her freedom.
