A disappointing outcome

After Ash and the others were ready to go, they all headed towards the Snowbelle city gym where Ash would try to get his 8th gym badge

"Let's get this last badge and then we are off to the Kalos League!" Ash exclaimed entering the arena

"Can't wait to see you battle Ashy-boy" Gary said from behind him

"You just wait Gary there is still something I haven't shown you" Ash told Gary

"Wait really what is it?" Gary asked confused

"Well Ash and G-" Bonnie began to explain but Serena covered her mouth

"You'll see" Ash said with a determined smile and gave a nod to Serena to thank her

They all walked inside the gym and were met by Wulfric who was the gym leader of Snowbelle

"I come here for my gym badge!" Ash exclaimed with a determined expression looking at Wulfric

"Alright then I accept the challenge trainer... come" Wulfric responded leading Ash to the battle arena where the battle would commence and the others went to the seats to watch the battle

"This will be a 3 on 3 battle! Now go to your positions!" The referee shouted

Ash and Wulfric went to their positions and were ready to begin. Ash started with Hawlucha while Wulfric used Abomasnow

"Battle commence!"

Abomasnow's ability kicked in and hail began to fall which would cause damage to Ash's pokémon

 "Hail..." Serena whispered

"This is Abomasnow's ability..." Gary realized

"It causes hail to fall which would deal great damage..." Clemont said in a worried tone

"Hawlucha use Flying press!" Ash commanded as Hawlucha then rushed his opponent and hit him with a powerful attack but when Hawlucha returned it began to receive damage

"That was very powerful... impressive" Wulfric said with admiration

"Well we aren't gonna stop there! Hawlucha use high jump kick!" Ash commanded

"Use ice shard!" Wulfric commanded which ended up hitting Hawlucha and injured it more with the hail

"Use woodhammer!" Wulfric commanded as Abomasnow began to rush Hawlucha

"Dodge it and use flying press!"

Hawlucha then dodged the attack right before it would hit and hit Abomasnow again with flying press

"Follow it up with high jump kick!"

 Hawlucha then hit Abomasnow again dealing more damage making it faint

"You battled well Abomasnow... now it's your turn!" Wulfric exclaimed as he threw out his second pokémon being Avalugg 

"Lets end this quick... Hawlucha use karate chop!" Ash commanded as Hawlucha closed the distance between him and his opponent and hit him

Avalugg was knocked back but began to heal

"What?"

"This is Avalugg's ability... Ice body" Wulfric clarified "When hail falls Avalugg will regain a bit of its health"

'So that is why he used Abomasnow first' Serena thought

"Ash is in a tight bit of trouble here... whatever trick he has up his sleeve better be good because this is going to be a hard battle" Gary told the others
