MIA

I pulled my knees to my chest as I laid my head against the glass behind me, my mid length golden blonde hair wet from my sweat after hours of endless torture, my body physically exhausted.

"Okay, she's had enough for one day. We can continue this tomorrow," spoke Melissa from behind the glass in front of me. She scribbled something down on her clipboard before setting it on the large metal desk in front of her, popping her pen back into her lab coat pocket.

Panting heavily, I glared at the group of scientists who stood before me, watching and analysing me as if I was some sort of specimen.

To them, I was though.

I didn't know exactly how many days I had been trapped behind the glass, being constantly poked and prodded by the humans. They were desperate to find out more about my kind, and I had heard them mentioning my age a number of times over the years.

"She's a werewolf, she'll heal quickly. We have time for at least one more test," encouraged Greg, making his way up the steps, standing at the door of my glass container.

"No," I mumbled, wiping my soggy hair out of my face, scrambling away until I was sitting on the opposite side of my container to the bald headed man who had opened the door and was now approaching me.

"Stop it, you're scaring her," announced a young woman from the corner of the room, her face contorted with discomfort as she watched my shaking form flinch away from the scientist in front of me.

"Right, Lily, don't start. You're just an intern, so I suggest you keep quiet if you want to keep this job!" replied the man in front of me, shooting the young female a warning glare. "Think about how frightened everyone would be if these creatures were still out roaming the streets! They aren't human! You must disassociate yourself from them."

Lily cleared her throat awkwardly, looking deeply into my dark brown eyes, sighing heavily. "Surely you don't think you've got them all? There are bound to be more, probably right under your nose."

Greg rolled his eyes, shaking his head. "Yes, and that is why we are conducting research on the ones we have captured- until it is easy to pick them out from the humans. Then we can put an end to their abomination of a race! They are not normal!"

"Is there no way we could do this a little more humanely? These creatures are suffering," spoke Lily, causing all of the scientists in the room to shake their heads. They murmured between themselves, looking the new intern up and down with dismay.

I had never seen her before, so I gathered that she was new, but I appreciated her efforts to reason with the scientists. However, I knew that there was no point.

I had given up trying to reason with them years ago after they ignored my constant begging and pleading- eventually just becoming a broken shell of my former self who rarely spoke or showed emotion.

"If you can't take what is about to happen then I suggest you leave Miss Studdon, but with this attitude you will not last very long in this profession," Melissa replied, her voice laced with spite. "Remember, you've also signed a non disclosure agreement, so none of this can be spoken about outside of this building."

Lily nodded once, sighing before gesturing towards my large glass container, regretfully urging the scientists to continue.

I gazed up at Greg in front of me as he slowly approached me, his hands held up defensively.
