Jaxon

I wake up to the faint scent of strawberries and the feeling of something weighing on my chest. And wow. I know that I have the weight of my worries on me, but it has never felt this real. This heavy. My eyes peel open, and the top of someone's head clouds my vision. Another hand is intertwined with my own, another leg between both of mine.

Oh no.

Luna.

I carefully lift my arm from her waist, but the moment my arm leaves her, she moves too. She pulls her hand away from mine and wraps her arms around me. I can't think straight. It's like I'm actually on fire from the warmth of her touch. I still can't find the word to describe how it makes me feel—how she makes me feel. She must sense me moving or something because she lifts her head and then her eyes find mine.

Luna stares at me through half-asleep eyes for a quick second before her eyes pop open and her lips part.

Her lips.

I bite my own to stop myself from kissing her right then and there. It would be perfect. Her on top of me, her lips parted just begging me to take them. I visibly see her swallow, her throat bobs up and down, and that just about ends me. My stomach has a million little knots to sort through.

But then she pulls away.

I ignore how cold it feels without her.

"I, uh," She sits up and runs a hand through her hair. Her voice is raspier than usual which only makes her ten times hotter. "What time is it?"

I follow her gaze outside. It's dark, and it was only three when she got here.

She grabs her phone and gasps. "It's ten. I have to go."

"Curfew?" My voice comes out hoarse, mirroring hers.

"Something like that," She mutters as she jumps up and grabs her bag. "Did you finish?"

"What?"

"Your work. Are you done?"

I run a hand down my face as I get out of bed. "Oh, yeah."

"Good, I'll check it in the car. Let's go," She basically runs out of my room. Before following, I take a second to catch my breath and glance at myself in the mirror.

"What's wrong with you?" I slap my face mostly to wake myself up for the drive. "Get a grip, Jaxon."

Now I'm talking to myself. That's just great. This girl is definitely getting to me.

And that's when it hits me. I'm talking about Luna Stone. I'm calling her pretty and nearly wanting to kiss her when half the time I want to strangle her brother.

Maybe I'm just tired right now. Luna's doing me a favor with the tutoring and I'm confusing appreciation with some other unnamed emotion. Or maybe I'm only seeing how...pretty she is because I can't have her.

I've always had a thing for forbidden fruit.
