Jaxon

Luna came to practice again on Friday. I don't know how Paxton did it, but she showed up. It's her second day here and she seems to actually be enjoying the practices, or she's just great at faking it. It's impossible to think anything else since she's always smiling when I look over at her—which is frequently.

As we walk to Paxton's truck, Luna walks in front of me, and I can't help but feel a little anxious about the ride home. This morning I was tempted to just fill Sirius up with gas, but even if Rose Thorn has only two gas stations in the entire town, we get a lot of the tourists from Santa Monica using them. I didn't want to risk the traffic and be late for school.

Suddenly, I like going to school.

But as my eyes stay on Luna, I realize what happened yesterday can't happen again. I can't sit next to the girl for over ten minutes in closed quarters without wanting to put my hands on her. It's a pretty big revelation for me, but yesterday was unbearable.

Or maybe I'm overthinking, all I know is that sitting in the back with her is not an option. My self-control is severely lacking with Luna Stone.

Yes. I'm an animal. I know.

I can't be next to Kalani either because she's still bitter about the day we lost Paxton and I told her off. She gives me dirty looks every time she sees me. Seriously, yesterday was horrible with the two of them.

"I'm sitting in the front." I announce hoping that Olivia lets me get away with it.

"Nice, we get the good music now." Paxton nods and heads over to the driver's seat.

His sister only laughs from behind me before patting my back. "I get car sick in the back seat. Sorry, Jax."

I roll my eyes as she hops into the passenger side. Kalani swings around the other side of the truck and I glance to Luna.

"Ladies first," I open the door. Maybe I can just look out the window the entire time.

Her eyebrows shoot up. "How chivalrous of you, but there is no way I'm sitting in the middle again. I get claustrophobic."

"No, you don't."

She smiles. "What's your problem? Scared of a couple girls?"

Yes. Yes, I am. I'm scared of a girl who hates me and another girl who lives in my mind no matter how much I try to push her out. But do I tell her that?

Of course, not

"No." I nudge her out of the way and reluctantly climb in the backseat. Kalani huffs out a breath the second I'm next to her and I cringe away. Luna hops in after and slams the door shut. Paxton starts driving the second I put my seatbelt on, and I look over to Luna. "Stop, Paxton!"

Paxton slams on the brakes and I narrow my eyes on the small girl next to me. "Put your seatbelt on."

She blinks, but thankfully she doesn't argue. She pulls her seatbelt on and the second it clicks I nod to Paxton through the mirror. He starts driving again like it's a regular Tuesday.

He gets it.

The ride to Kalani's goes by so slowly I almost want to crawl out of my skin. She's basically attached to the door trying to sit as far from me as possible. I don't mind, it gives me more room to spread my legs.

The second we pull up to Kalani's, she jumps out of the truck like it's on fire. I understand. "I'll text you, Liv."

"Later," Olivia throws up a peace sign to her evil best friend.
