Christmas.
I'd honestly say that Christmas was one of those holidays that you were either excited for, or felt like running away. The stress of the holiday in itself tends to be too much.
Making sure Joely doesn't pick up on Santa and seeing more people than usual. But this time it was worse, because I was meeting Reeds parents.
"What if they think I'm a slut?" I heard him choke on his water and look over at me
"Hope, why on earth would my parents think you're a slut?" I sighed shrugging
"I mean I have a baby daddy and-"
"An incredible daughter, your a god damn lawyer on top of that. You did law school while pregnant with Joely and then with a newborn. My mom was impressed by you not disgusted by you Hope" he came behind me messaging my shoulders
"What if she hates my pajamas" I stood in candy cane footsie PJ's and looked down to the floor at my slippers
"We won't be showing up to dinner in our pajamas now will we Hope?" I nod taking a swig of the wine and walked out to his porch to view Copley "So what is our friend doing this evening? Last I saw her she wanted to bake cookies with me?" I laughed at the memory
Joely walked up to Reed and simply handed him a ball of cookie dough asked him to the best of her abilities to help "She's with Maria and luckily away from flour. Hopefully she won't be looking like the Pillsbury dough boy" his laugh filled my ears as he smiled
I still felt guilty. I didn't tell him about Amartolós, because how could I. That's not just a single question thing, there would be ties and he could find out "So Maria is like her grandma?"
"Yep" I sighed "You know my parents are a bust and, well Maria and MaryEllen are her grandma's, more so Maria is her Maria" I felt his arms snuggle in from behind holding me close as we looked at the Boston night sky
Last minute shoppers scurrying around as Christmas Eve was just the day after next "Do you ever just watch the chaos erupt in the streets?" With that I heard the door open

"Hope? Who's Hope?" The silence filled the room and her eyes slowly widened with fear and regret causing me to smile
"You little bitch!" She rolled her eyes and took me in for a hug "so your the poor girl who agreed to be this losers girlfriend?"
