Do you ever feel like summers are wasted? They're never like in the stories when your going to the beach, surfing, sunbathing and hanging out with your tanned friends. That never happens, well to me anyways. So here I am sitting in my air conditioned room on tumblr with nothing better to do. Oh the joys of being Kara Collins.

"Moves like jagger, you got the moves like jagger"

Dang it! I really need to change my ring tone. Stupid jackass brother. Grabbing my phone from my desk, I answered with out needing to look at the screen. "Hey girl" I greeted

"Hi! Oh my god, I'm so excited for tonight" my best friend Ellis squealed over the phone . "Yeah yeah whatever it's just gonna be like all the other summer nights" I replied lazily.

"No there is no stupid brothers around, we are having a full girls night" she defended.

"Yippie" I replied sarcastically, let me just say that I don't bother with my hair or makeup. Fashion is more my thing than beauty.

"Right Danny's calling me I have to get rid of some girl that's outside my window screaming for him" Ellis hung up without waiting for my farewell. I threw my phone on my bed and went back to tumblr, laughing at some of the posts.

A door slammed downstairs indicating that my parents were home, eventually how long does a family dinner take? Yes I didn't go to the family dinner. Me and my family, we aren't that close, me and food we aren't that close. It all started four years ago, being a spoiled bitch. My life was wonderful til my twelve year old self had to ruin it all. Why? You say. My.Lips.Are.Sealed.

Walking over to the opposite end of my room I locked my door, knowing how my sister will barge in here and bring down my self esteem. Slowly and cautiously walking to the mirror, I took a long look at my self. I wasn't bad, but I wished I had the looks of my best friend Ellis. You're probably thinking typical the best friend is prettier but in my life it was actually true. Slowly, I picked up my tatty, old brush and gently pulled it through my dark hair. My hazel eyes weren't anything special, that probably explains my lack of experience with the opposite gender. Putting my brush down, I walked over to my walk in closet and searched for a suitable outfit. Quickly I spotted my favourite white jumper that read "cool story bro" and my skinny jeans from the new Topshop that's finally been introduced here in America. Overall, I looked alright but I know my sister Darcy, will look better any day.

I walked into my en-suite bathroom and pulled on my clothes. I couldn't help but let my thoughts wonder to Danny (my best friends brother and coincidentally my brothers best friend and my sisters boyfriend). Sounds so cliche doesn't it? The last time I talked to him was about 6 years ago when I was ten and he was eleven. Shaking off my random thoughts, I walked out the bathroom and placed my feet into a pair of converse. I silently hoped no one would hear me come out my room so I tiptoed out and began walking down the never-ending stairs."Where you going?" My sister Darcy asked as she looked me up and down with disgust and shoved me down the stairs."Aww Colby come over here" Darcy said as she gestured to our brother (also her twin) Colby "Look at little Kara trying to be hipster" she cooed but not in the friendly way. Colby laughed but I swear I seen some form of regret in his eyes. Trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill, I walked away from them and out the door. With my tears gone, I left the thought of my family in the house. I knew if Ellis seen me break down, she'd go over to my house and kick their asses. I couldn't help but laugh out loud with the thought of Ellis going all karate on their butt. Suddenly out of the blue, a car pulled up beside me. The window started rolling down, I know I should've ran but I couldn't help but think the car was familiar. The window rolled down to reveal, was that? No why would he pull up next to me? Danny smirked and said "take a picture it lasts longer".

"Uh... Erm.. What.." I stuttered. I couldn't help it, it just happened around people who I hadn't talked to in SIX YEARS! He laughed at me, instead of me laughing along like anyone would. It boiled my anger up in two. I bet he laughs about me all the time to my sister, I bet they talk about how much of a loser I am. Standing in the middle of the pavement, with Danny in his black Lamborghini Aventador made me realise something. I needed to change. Starting with the help from Ellis.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I demanded with one eyebrow raised. Danny looked a bit taken back,

"I... Just. Erm" so now who's the one stuttering.

I laughed and said

"Where you going?"

He smiled and replied with a simple word of home thats known to all of us.

"Well it looks like you are giving me a lift". Smirking at me he unlocked his car and the doors slid up (SHOWOFF!!) which allowed me to enter. Then he drove off to Ellis, and started talking to me for the first time in six years.
