"Please let me go..."

The words make me feel for this small, pathetic creature. She seems so scared and small.

"I can't," I say, turning around and leaving the room, locking the door behind me. I knock on my cousin's door. I know he's awake.

Ten seconds after knocking, he opens the door. I can see one of his many pets in the corner.

"Max," I begin, irritated by the sight of a pet in the background, "Get one of your girls to go in and help mine."

"Ah, how is your "princess". Probably terrified after you yelled at her," he says, leaning against the door frame.

"A normal modern human teen is going to be impossible to train. And I don't want to do what your doing. I only want to take ome person," I briefly explain.

"Well, if you end up sad it's your fault!", Max replies, followed by me angrily walking off. Hopefully he does what I've asked him to.

I can hear her crying and my heart softens. I'm tempted to go in and hug her, but I can't. I'm too angry. Not that much with her, but more with myself for being so stupid. It was a mistake that should've never been made and now everyone will know I was mistaken.

I head downstairs, thinking about drinking from one of our blood donors in the cellar. But I don't want there blood. It's not as tasty, ruined by them being stuck in the cellar. I want fresh blood.

~~~
I sprint across the ground, the scent of a human filling my nose. My throat is sore, longing for blood. My eyes filled with hunger.
I jump over a fallen tree, getting closer with every step. I'm almost there; the smell getting stronger and stronger, almost driving me crazy. It's good that I filled up on blood before going to the human world, otherwise this could've happened.
The human is in sight. They are jogging. I wait until they are right in front of me and then I leap fowards, landing on them. My teeth sink into their neck, beginning to suck their blood. B. A vampire can immediately tell what blood type they have, just by drinking.
They scream, struggling, but I continue drinking, enjoying each sweet gulp. My eyes close in pleasure, but I continue sucking, even as their body grows limp. They're past saving now, so it's not worth taking back to the cellar.
I know that by the time they're found, they will be long gone. But to make sure no idiot comes up with the idea vampire, I leave bite marks on the otherside of their neck and their right hand. That's what we always do when we kill a live human.
As I bite their right hand, I suck out the last drops of blood, wanting to savour as much as possible. Then I leave.
~~~

The first thing I do when the mansion is in sight is look up to Sapphire's window. Indeed, Max sent one if his pets. That's a relief.

Sapphire looks beautiful, her hair in a fancy hair style and make up done. I look away and begin to walk into the mansion before she can see me looking though.

Unfortunately, I spot my parents walking up the stairs from the cellar. My mother hurries towards me.

"How's your mate?", she asks, wiping a bit of blood off her face.

"She's... She's not a princess. I was mistaken," I growl, anger filling me again. How could this happen? Now I've made such a mess of things and she can never leave, because nobody's allowed to find out that vampire's truely exist. Nobody.

Now I'm left with an average teenage girl who will be impossible to manage and I doubt we will ever love each other. I want somebody to be equal in authority. I still want to protect her, but I can't have a wild mate.

"What?!", my mother gasps, covering her mouth with her hand and I nod, "She's a normal teenage girl."

"But..."

"I know," I reply, shaking my head, "This isn't how it should be. I... I can't love her."

"Then give her to Maxine. He's always happy to have new pets."

I freeze. How could she suggest that. He wouldn't treat her well! He'd waste her.

"No. I won't give her to Max", I determinedly say.

My mother smiles, "It looks like somebody's falling in love."

"What?!"

"Nothing. I just think that by the end of this month, we'll have a love sick Elicus."

Elicus is my full name, just like Maxine is Max's. But we tend to go by our nickname's.

I glare at my mother, before I turn around and head upstairs. I am not in love.

But then again, if I was in love, why would it be so bad?
