I keep thinking of how Laurette kissed Elias. I'm jealous, but not because I love him. It makes me miss Jeremy and regret my decision to leave him and go with Elias for protection. Even though it wasn't exactly my choice, due to it being manipulated by Elias's thoughts.

I'm glad to arrive at their house and remember Denise. I can finally see her again! I smile as I think that, now just a bit happier. I was happy about the fact that I would be distracted by my fighting training, but now I know that I can spend time with my blonde friend when I'm taking a break.

Elias leads me to the room I'd been in last time I stayed. I feel slightly uncomfortable, remembering the circumstances of my last stay, however stay calm and thank him. Then he leaves me and I fall onto the bed, sighing.

Suddenly, I hear the door swing open. When I rise, I see my blond friend standing in the doorframe, beaming.

"Denise!", I call as I rush forward, closer and closer to her, hugging her. It's nice to see a familiar female human. I've been seeing a lot of vampires or surreal humans.

She wraps her arms around me, mumbling soothing things. I realise I'm acting like a little child. I guess all this vampire business has made me seem younger in some aspects.

"Okay, tell me everything!"

Denise feels like my best friend in normal life would be like, wanting to know everything that's happened to me. She isn't quite like Tracey, who only ever seems to care if the boys were hot. I'm glad about how Denise acts, trying to pretend we're normal teenagers in a completely normal situation, allowing me to forget we're in a vampire's home until Max peeks through the door.

"We're training."

Before I know it he's gone and I'm left wondering if it's outside or they have some special room. Maybe I'm supposed to get changed, but I think this outfit is fine. Denise leaves and I head outside.

On the way I meet Elias's father and flinch as I notice some blood on his mouth. He sees my expression and wipes it away, but that simply makes it worse, because the blood's still there and is coating more of his mouth.

I've never felt that comfortable with Elias's father, just as I never was with Sir Graham. They seem to have more authority and power than the younger vamps, like Max and Elias. Those two are more laid back and relaxed - Max at least. I feel like Elias is more serious than his younger cousin.

I politely nod, before turning away, glad to escape. I hurry outside and am relieved to find the two younger vampires outside, seeming to be working on something on the ground. When they notice me, they jump up and seem to move to the side. I think they're trying to keep it secret from me or at least it's location secret, but I'm not sure. Maybe they just were eating some tasty animal and knew I wouldn't want to see it's corpse.

"At last," Max grunts, to which I roll my eyes, "You know that I don't have super speed like you two?"

"That shall be your biggest disadvantage. We're stronger than you. We're faster than you. We can get into your mind. That's why we shall lure him to a place where there's plenty of sun. It'll weaken him and the two of us, but it's the correct way."

"Why can't we just lure him at night and you catch him?", I ask, slightly confused, since we're more than one person.

"Who knows how first he'd get to you. He'd run towards you before we could reach you. We have good reflexes, but not good enough. In the day he'd be running at human speed. One of us will be closer to you and pounce out. I'm assuming your next question is how he won't smell us. The scent of us on you will distract him."

"Then won't he realise that it's fresh?", I point out, surprised at how thick they expected him to be, however as usual, Max had a response ready, "When some vampires catch a scent they like, they have instincts; not brains. They don't think when they ate chasing, yet in battle they can be cunning, like a fox. They are always planning what they will do next. Don't underestimate him."

I am irritated by the hypocrisy. Isn't underestimating him exactly what Max is doing? I'm not sure, he knows more about vampires then I do, but he does have a big advantage.

That's when Elias interrupts my thoughts, speaking the first time since I've been outside, "Okay, Sapphire! It's time for your first lesson!"

A/N: I forgot to write an author's note yesterday...
I won't be too active, because my phone has a bad battery life, but I should be getting a new one tomorrow (we actually ordered a new one, because this one's screen got cracked.
