Same Mistakes

Chapter Seven

My mom's smile shown through on the other end of the phone as Jayce laughed at Rosie who was in her arms. The facetimes with my mom were scarce these days and now was when I needed them the most. When I had first came to New York I didn't realize that I was nowhere near prepared and immediately moved back to Columbus to figure things out. I missed my mom like crazy, but now that I was a mom myself I had to be self sufficient which is why I came back to New York with Dani.

My mom's voice was laced with joy as she spoke to my dad in the background, "Jayce misses his nonna, we need to take a trip to New York."

My dad's voice bellowed in the back, "We will, I told you we're going to soon."

I smiled at my mom who Jayce was still entranced by before speaking, "Hey, mom listen. I have to go but I will call you later. Love you, Momma. Love you, Papa!"

My dad's voice yelled the sentiment back and my mom's face frowned, "Aw, bye tesoro. I love you. Nonna loves you, Jayce!"

Jayce waved bye and blew my mom a quick kiss before I ended the call and carrying Jayce to the living room. Looking at the clock I figured that Maddie would be here soon to watch Jayce and Harper who was already fast asleep for the night. As if on cue, the doorbell rung and I buzzed her in before leaving her with Jayce while I quickly got ready.

Ryan would be here in about 45 minutes which was more than enough time for me to get ready now that I was a mom. I already had my outfit picked out so I quickly straightened my hair before doing my makeup.

I gave myself a once over in the mirror and met Maddie in the living room where she was patiently trying to get Jayce to self. I smiled and gave her a look that said, 'Is he almost out?'

She whispered while she ran her hand over his blonde hair in a soothing way, "Just about."

As I got a few bottles ready for the night my phone buzzed a text from Ryan, saying he was here. I told Maddie bye and gave Jayce a quick, soft kiss on the head before heading out. Ryan was in the back seat of a black escalade that was being driven by who I recognized as one of Justin's drivers.

Ryan shot me a quick smile as I got in, sitting next to him, "Hey."

"Hey. How'd you handle Justin yesterday?" I quickly questioned before Ryan gave the address to the driver. He chuckled before answering, "Damn, you just get straight to the point. I handled him, he musta forgot about your roommate's little slip up.

"Danielle's and good."  For the rest of the ride Ryan and I made small talk and even joked a few times. As I finished telling Ryan about Jayce's recent attempts to run around the apartment without any clothes on we pulled up to a large, elegant looking restaurant. 

"Le Bernardin? Sounds expensive." I took Ryan's outstretched hand as I got out, steadying myself on the concrete below my six inch heels. I evened out my dress before following Ryan into the building.

He held the door open for me and looked at me, "That's because it is. The greeters smiled at us and Ryan gave her a name, "Jenner."

She immediately lead us to a table in the far corner and before we end made it I could see the heads of everyone. Once everyone became aware of our presence they greeted us in unison. Kylie was the first to stand and wrapped me into a hug.

"Hey baby mama!" As she pulled away I rolled my eyes and laughed, "Hey."

Tessa was next, "Hey cutie with a booty!" 

After giving her a hug I sat down between her and Ryan. Kendall still hadn't said anything to me and was shooting Ryan a look, "Did you invite her?" Her voice did not seem upset but was concerning nonetheless. 

Ryan creased his eyebrows together and looked at me, "Yeah?"

Everyone looked confused aside from Kendall whose hands laid flat against the table as sh leaned towards us, "Vogue arranged dinners tonight for their models."

Ryan was still confused, "I know?"

"Hailey models for vogue too." I watched as Ryan's eyes widened a fraction and Kendall nodded, "Yeah."

I shook my head in confusion and questioned them all, "Why is that an issue?"

This time Tessa answered in a low voice, "Hailey and Justin will be here."
