Chapter 10

Werewolf? As in the the half man half wolf, full moon animal? There is no such thing as were wolfs. Only children and crazy people believe in that stuff. Hunter gripped my elbow and yanked me up to my feet.

This had to be a joke. I looked down at the abnormal sized wolf on the ground with his mouth pulled open.

"Yes were wolfs exist." Hunter said as if hearing my thoughts

"Only in Stephanie Myers's mind." I laughed as I grabbed a handful of my gold hair

Stepping closer to the wolf I blinked unbelievingly my eyes. Bending down to the stained white fur I couldn't help but let out a gasp as the wolf turned his head and let out a small growl.

"Pshh those are not real wolves. Teeny tiny jean shorts and vampires now that's all Stephanie." Hunter snorted

"But how, I mean its not possible." I shook my head as my hair fell over my shoulders

Yet here I am standing over a motionless wolf. He turned his head again this time baring his sharp teeth.

I jumped up as a loud cracking sound came from the wolf's jaw.

"Don't worry he'll be down for a while but I should get you out of here."

"His bones.." I trailed off as another cracking sound echoed in my ears

Hunter weaved his large fingers in mine and tugged me away from the bloody mess. My heart leapt in excitement as I trailed after him. The heat from his palm pressed to mine felt like a blazing fire as something inside of me burned in reaction.

It's like he switched something in me on. Uncomfortable with the strange emotion I cleared my throat.

"So Holden is a werewolf." I said out loud

It's hard to believe that I could know someone yet not know this huge secret.

"No only is he a dog but also a alpha of this town." he said sounding annoyed

"Wait there are more wolves?"

He laughed at my question "Try nearly the whole town. Damn wolves are everywhere kicking me out of restaurants and hotels." he said with a smile

I haven't known Hunter long but he seems to enjoy pissing people off.

"How do you know this?" I asked as I quickened my steps to keep up with his long strides

There was a large root in our path Hunter jumped over with ease but I stumbled with hum still tugging me like a child.

"Use that brain of yours Aubrey." he teased

"Your one too." I gasped as he reached a small hill that led out of the forest and onto the sidewalk

"That's a smart girl." he said as he ruffled my hair

I slapped his hand away and climbed up the steep hill. Hunter followed me with a lopsided grin.

"Why do they kick you out, aren't you guys suppose to look out for each other?" I asked

My feet slipped slightly as I struggled to climb up. Hunter on the other hand was waiting at the top with a cocky smirk.

"If I was apart of their pack or at least in a pack, maybe." he shrugged with a carefree attitude
