Soren's POV

Another aggravating giggle that ends with a undistinguished snort. This girl was getting on my damn nerves. Whenever she hit the ball over the net, she'd glance my way and bat her cheap false lashes like a dog seeking her  reward.

"Heads up!" Someone called.

I looked up and saw the volleyball heading my way. I prepared to make set, so that the person on my left  could spike it across, but unfortunately false lashes girl runs straight me from behind.

"I got it." She says, when obviously I had a perfect shot.

Since I was a good head taller than her, the side of her face slams into my back and slides between the line down my spine. The ball was now the last thing I was worried about, now that my center of gravity was lost. I was able steady myself by widening my stance and ground my feet to the warm sand before falling backward with the koala on my back. With my size, I'm sure I would have crushed her like a bug--not that I would have minded.

My forearms were blocking my face from the ball when she wrapped her arms around my waist and her hands roamed across my abs.

She did that on purpose! I hear the ball hit the ground right next to me and the other team cheering for the point they just earned.

I cursed between my teeth.

"I'm so sorry!" She said against the skin on my back. Her hands were still all over me.

"Get off me." I snarl.

She squeaks and lets go like I had just burned her. She falls backward and falls on her butt with a exaggerated cry. all her friends come running towards her and they start a pity party in the middle of a game.

I glance at Luca with a are you kidding me look. He sighs and places his both hands on the side of his waist. "I think we need to pull our stuff higher up, the waves are pulling in." He points to the waves coming in.

I nodded my head in agreement, happy to end this meaningless game. All the girls pout, including the false lashes girl. She was still on the sand waiting for someone to help her up. I'd much rather leave her their and let the waves take her.

Eric instead helps her up and when he does, the pity party is all over him.

I help Luca with dismantling the net and we both start packing things up back into the car with the help of Derrick and the girls' boyfriends.

"Where's your sister?" I asked Jackie who was standing next to William. The two were signing things on the sand and watching as the waves wash it all away.  "Which one? I have five." Jackie grinned.

"The stubborn one who gets on my nerves."

That makes her smile wider. "They all get in my nerves, except for Alex and Peyton and I don't know who gets on your nerves."

"Peyton. Where is she?" I ask seriously.

She shrugs. "Last I remember, she she sat over there." She pointed at the empty ruffled beach towel now covered in sand.

For a second, my instincts pushed me into panic mode and a bunch of worse case scenarios come tom mind. This was either my alpha instincts to protect my pack, or I was turning paranoid like my worrisome mother. But then I realized Peyton wasn't part of my pack so why should I feel so concerned?
