'I want to break you, Aurora'

"Slow down!" Alexus shouted from behind me as my feet kept racing towards the upper levels. "What the hell did Hera tell you that's so important?"

I blushed, my face heating up within seconds. A few minutes ago I was seated in front of the queen of Mount Olympus, Hera. The first night that I'd met her, she gifted me with a 'virtue' ring- a moonstone ring that prevented me from giving away my innocence, but a few moments ago she smashed it on the ground and it shattered into thousands of little shards.

I don't think I've ever felt more free- or excited. And nervous.

Gods, my hands were shaking!

"She um... just gave me some advice and I need to tell Thanatos about it." I didn't bother to turn around as I took the stairs two at a time. Alexus huffed and puffed after me; her long, lilac dress clutched in her fists to help her move up the steps without tumbling down.

"What did she tell you?"

"Oh, nothing really..."

"Then why in Zeus' name are we running like a Minotaur is after us?"

I chuckled and shot her an apologetic look; "Sorry, you're right..." I slowed down a bit and let her catch up. She glared at me with her deep hazel eyes. "I'm being silly."

I was breathing hard and realised that I didn't want Thanatos to see me looking so dishevelled when I told him. I fixed my long, white dress and ran a hand through my hair. My heart was racing loudly in my ears.

"Thank the gods... You're going to kill me, woman." Alexus put her hands on her hips and shook her head. I merely smiled sheepishly.

"Care to tell me now?"

I opened my mouth, but my brain couldn't think of an appropriate lie. Alexus knew about Thanatos and I, but this wasn't something I wanted to discuss with her just now- I wanted him to be the first to know. The first to react.
