Looking down at him, she clearly wasn't waiting to hear that from him. She tried to observe him, trying to see if he was joking. He looked tired, as always. His blue eyes had bags under them and his cheeks were light pink just like his lips that were pressed in a thin line and his hair messy.

"You came here because you want to go to church with me?" She asked again, making sure she heard him right.

Nodding at her, he replied "Yes."

Furrowing her thick brows at him, she rolled her eyes. "Listen Elijah, If you think that this is the best way for you to spend your time with me then you should stop." She almost whispered.

Rolling his eyes at her too, he shook his head.

"I truly want to go to church, with you." He said again, his words clear for her to understand.

He knew that Rachel loved God and that she also loved going to Church so she could praise and pray to Him. And something in him liked that side of her. The passion she has for things she has never seen before, to him she was from another completely different world. And after learning to know her, he couldn't help but see the light that shone brighter than the stars on the sky. She was herself a star, a star in the hands of the creator.

That's why he wanted to know more about her. About her power. The power she has to live in a completely destroyed world without love and peace, yet always be so lovely and peaceful. He wanted to know. He wanted to find the thing, or maybe the one that made her who she is today.

He was starting to get more and more hungry.

His soul was getting hungry just by seeing the way she lived, the way she loved.

"Alright then. I'll be there in a few minutes." She finally spoke after observing him uncontrollably.

Smiling in content, he simply nodded at her as she closed the window. Walking back to his car, he waited in front of it. After a few minutes, she finally came out and all he could think of was how beautiful she looked in her light red dress.

The dress was so long that the only thing he could see was her toes. The beautiful dress had a small caramel belt that hugged her thin waist perfectly as she placed her caramel leather bag over her shoulder.

"Hey." She waved at him with a small smile.

Smiling back at her, he waved at her too.

"You look absolutely beautiful, I love your dress. The color looks fantastic on you." He said quickly, almost breathless.

When he met her eyes and saw how much she was trying to not laugh at his ridiculous comment, he felt his cheeks getting hot from embarrassment.

"Thank you..." She replied.

Hissing silently, he pinched his arm, making sure that he will close his mouth for good now if he doesn't want to embarrass himself even more.

"And I love your shirt. Blue looks good on you. It matches with your eyes." Rachel added, smiling even wider at him when she saw his now, red cheeks.

Looking back at her, he simply smiled, not knowing what to say.

"We can walk." Rachel said when she saw the unfamiliar car behind him. She didn't had to ask to know if it was his, it looked too expensive for the people that lived in her neighborhood.

"Alright, if you want to walk, we will walk." He nodded, putting his keys inside his jeans pocket.

"Thanks! You can follow me." She said as she started walking with Elijah following next to her. "I'm glad you're coming to church with me, you know... it means a lot." Rachel said as she looked at her feet.

Gulping, he turned to look at her face before replying. "Thanks for accepting me to go with you."  Making her smile at him.

"Elijah, can I ask you something?" She said making his heart skip a beat.

He was good. Walking with her. He didn't want to ruin the moment. He knew that it was going to come anyway. So he simply nodded, waiting to hear the question he already knew.

"Did you really do it?" She finally spoke.

Gulping for once more, he cleared his throat.

"You don't believe what your brother said to you last night?" He asked as he bent over to grab a small daisy before standing back up and walking next to her.

"Even if I want to believe him, I can't." She said, trying not to look at him In the eyes.

Stopping, he stood there still making her follow his mouvement as she faced him.

"What can't you believe, Rachel?" He asked, incredulous.

He heard her right the first  time, he just wanted to keep hearing her saying the same words again and again.

"I can't believe that you could do something like that to one of your friends..."  she said.

Closing his eyes at her words, he shook his head.

"Davin was more than a friend to me Rachel. I could never do that to him. And I didn't, trust me. I can even swear to you..."

"No don't." She cut him off. "Your eyes are enough to prove your words. I know you didn't do that Elijah." She said making him look at her in awe.

"There's just something I can't understand. If the boy on the pictures with Sophia wasn't you, who was it then? And why Davin can't get this lie out of his head?"

She asked before starting to walk again, making him follow her mouvements, ready to open up to her and tell her the truth, finally, the whole truth.

"He can't believe me Rachel. Everything that night made me look like the bad one... " he said, his head down.

"What do you mean?"

"Listen, that night, I was there. Sophia had invited me too, you know, to her birthday party and I knew that I would find Davin there too since they were dating... but I didn't, when I arrived she was alone, crying. She told me that she wasn't fine and that she needed to talk to someone... I... I saw her crying, and it reminded me of my mother... she used to cry a lot because of my father and... and I just can't bear to see a woman crying because it reminds me of her all the time..." He stopped, rubbing his temples slowly before opening his mouth again.

"And I couldn't help but stay there with her. I didn't do anything wrong I promise! I was just trying to calm her down and tell her that everything was going to be alright no matter what problems she had... and that's when she tried to come closer to me... and before I could stop her I heard that sound. You know when you feel like someone just took a picture of you... I was so shocked at what she wanted to do that I stood up and walked away..."

"That means that in the first picture, It was you, the guy sitting on the sofa facing her." Rachel gasped.

"Yes, it was me. But I left after that picture... And when I was back home I realized that I didn't have my phone. I had to go back there and get it. And when I got back there, I saw him coming out of the house with her next to him. They looked drunk... "

Stopping again, she turned to look at him, her heart beat accelerating.

"Who was this guy Elijah?" She asked.

Shaking his head slowly, he knew that his name was going to break her heart just a little and he hated that. But he had to tell her the truth if he wanted to gain her trust again.

The trust he never lost.

"It was John." He finally said making her gasp again.

"John? You mean Shellah's ex boyfriend?" She whispered in disgust.

Breathing slowly, he confirmed without hesitation.

"Yes, it was him."
