Ada's POV

"Ada?" a small voice woke me up the next morning. I slowly opened my eyes to the beautiful angel who was standing next to my bed. "Good morning princess." I sat up and picked her up on the bed. "Morning Ada." She mumbled. "Can we go somewhere today?" "I don't know princess. I wanted to meet up with a friend and you would have to ask your mom first." "I could join you and your friend. Please, daddy?" She looked at me with puppy eyes, so I groaned and grabbed my phone. I dialled Eve's number while the little girl still looked at me with those damn puppy eyes. "Ada?" her voice sounded sleepy and confused. "Yeah, uhm Eve, I've got a little girl here that really would like to spend the day with us. She's looking at me with those damn puppy eyes and I can't say no to her." I looked at the little girl that was staring back at me, the puppy eyes still there. "Can you give me the little girl?" "Sure." I held the phone towards Ruby. "Here she wants to talk to you." She took the phone and pressed it to her ear. "Hello Eve." She said sweetly. She listened intently as her face turned serious. "Yes, I promise to be a good girl." Ruby talked to Eve over the phone and I really wanted to know what these two were talking about. "Ada? Could you look after Ruby for today? I have an appointment." Sam stood in the doorway. "Oh, don't bother. Ruby is already counting herself in on my date." Sam looked at her daughter, that was still sitting on my bed talking to Eve. "Thanks Eve, I'll tell her, see you later." She hung up and gave me my phone back. "Eve said yes. I'll go get dressed." She hoped down and ran out of my room, nearly crashing into her mother. "Well I'll leave you alone so that you can get dressed too." Sam left my room and I slowly crawled out of bed. Slowly I walked over to my Walk-in-closet, more like an entire room. I got dressed in a 'bring me the horizon'-shirt and some black ripped skinny jeans. My hair was a mess, so I pulled a red beany over my head. "Are you ready?" Ruby asked jumping up and down. "No, we still have to brush our teeth." She groaned but went over to the bathroom with me. A few minutes later we left the house and I drove over to Eve's place. She jumped into the car as soon as I pulled up into her driveway. She turned around and smiled at Ruby. "Hello Ruby, so where do you want to go?" "McDonalds." She squealed. "No" I said before Eve could even turn around. "I told you before, princess. That is no place for you." I could see Ruby pout. "How about Pizza hut, sweet heart?" I know that's not the best place either, but better than McDonalds. "Only if I get the cheesy bites pizza." She said with her arms crossed over her chest. "Only if you share it with me." Eve said before I could say no. Ruby nodded eagerly, and Eve turned around to me with a raised Eyebrow. I had no other choice so I started the car and drove to the local Pizza hut. We got out of the car and walked into the restaurant where Ruby choose a booth in the far corner. Ruby and Eve discussed what toppings they wanted on their Pizza while I tried to find one for myself. This is going to be expensive, the cheesy bites pizza was 20$ and then I had to pay mine as well. Also, I'm pretty sure that Ruby will beg to get the chocolate breadsticks when she finished her pizza. She might be only four years old, but she ate like a teenage boy. While I was sitting there and contemplating if I want to have a supreme or a Mac' n' cheese pizza, my phone began to ring. "Yeah?" I picked it up without looking at the caller ID. "Ada, nice to hear your voice. I just wanted to ask you if you're ever going to pick me up or if you just forgot about your sister." "Ally's voice sounded angry but at the same time I could hear her smirk in her voice so I knew that she just faked it. "Fuck, Ally I'm so sorry. Is it okay if I pick you up later, though? I'm out with Ruby. Sorry, I thought Jenna would drive you home." How could I forget my own sister? I really shouldn't be a parent, I would forget my child at the store at least once a week. "Yeah I'll just wait here. Jenna's car broke down so we had to walk back to her place from the restaurant, since you didn't come back." "I'm really sorry, pumpkin. I'll come and pick you up as soon as I'm done here but it can take a few hours. I'm sorry." "Yeah sure, take your time, I'll watch some boring 'step up'-movies." You could hear Jenna being offended in the distance. "Have fun little sis." I hung up my phone and we ordered out Pizza. "You forgot to pick up Ally?" Eve asked with that shocked face. "Actually, Jenna was supposed to drive her home but her car broke down." "And she didn't try to call you?" "Not until now." That little snake didn't even want me to pick her up. She wanted to stay over at Jenna's, but Jenna probably forced her to call me. "Mmmh, maybe her phone was out of batterie and she just got to recharge it." I smiled as Eve tried to find a reason why Ally didn't call me earlier. "Yeah that's probably it." I said trying to hold back my laugh. "But she could have called you with Jenna's phone." My smile only grew bigger and I raised my eyebrows suggestively. "Wait, maybe Ally didn't even want you to pick her up. Maybe she wanted to spend the night at Jenna's. Ada, I think your sister has a crush on your best friend." I just laughed. "Eve, as far as I remember Jenna asked you to join her and Ally so that it wouldn't look like a date, right? Actually, those two have been close to dating for the last two months, they act like a married couple. But they are too afraid to admit their feelings to each other." "Oh, so Ally has a crush on Jenna but Jenna doesn't like her in that way. I mean she would have told me." That only made me laugh harder. "Honey, Jenna has the biggest crush on Ally. Ever since they first met. Just remember her face during that lap dance on Christmas eve." Eve blushed slightly. "Oh," she looked down at the table to get rid of her blush. "What's a lap dance?" Ruby asked with the biggest eyes. "It's a dance Adults do where they get really close to each other." "But Ally's not an adult." Ruby said with her arms crossed. "Yes, Princess, but she's close to being an adult, so she has to learn all the adult things." "Oh, do I have to learn them as well?" "Only if you want to, when you're old enough." Our Pizza arrived and the two hungry girls began digging in as if they hadn't had food for at least five months. I just ate my small Mac' N' Cheese pan pizza and waited for them to finish their oversized pizza. When they finally finished that, they immediately ordered the chocolate sticks. I have no idea where they put all that food. While they were waiting for their dessert they discussed what they wanted to do afterwards. "We should go to the Arcade, Ada can win us both some cute stuffed Animals." Ruby argued but Eve shook her head. "No, she's already done that and I'm pretty sure your mom won't like it when you come home with another stuffed animal." She thought for a while. "But we could go to the cinema and watch a movie." Ruby shook her head. "No that's boring. We could go to that go kart place and race Ada." I smiled, my little princess really loved action. "No, that's way too dangerous, we could crash and you could get hurt. How about this, there's this indoor playground I found a few month ago. They have big trampolines, ball baths and slides, climbing trees, a skateboard park and even a basketball court for Ada." Ruby's eyes grew wide with excitement and she jumped up and down. "Can we go there, daddy?" "Sure, little princess, but only if you battle me in a basketball match?" She smiled at me. "Okay," she said shrugging, "You're going down, you haven't played in over two months." "We'll see, little girl, but don't cry when you lose." "Ha, that'll never happen." That's when her food arrived and she stuffed her face with the chocolate sticks. I asked for the bill, which I payed with a sigh. Living on the street made me value money more than others probably do. Even though I have tons of money now, it still hurt me to spend so much just on food. But I did it. I wanted the best for Eve and my little Princess, and if that made them happy then I'm happy spending my money on them. Eve actually gave me one of her chocolate sticks, which made my mood even better. They tasted really good but way too sweet to eat more than one. "Okay, then let's go girls." I led them back to the car and Eve showed me the directions. When we got there Eve had to jump out of the car to stop Ruby from running over the parking lot. "Princess, you have to wait for us. There are cars everywhere and with you still being small they can't see you. So, you have to stay with either me or Eve, okay?" "Sorry." She looked down at the floor. "It's okay sweetheart." I took her hand and we walked into the indoor playground. I payed the fee for the three of us before we walked over to the basketball court. We had to use the one for children since Ruby 'couldn't throw the up to the real basket', at least that's what the guy who worked there thought. It looked kind of funny with me on the court. The basket wasn't even at my high and the ball was so small it disappeared in my hand. Ruby was frustrated, she wanted to play the real court, not this baby court. I kneeled down to her high. "Hey Princess. Let's show this guy that you can play the big court, okay? We'll have a one-on-one on this baby court and we'll play so good he's got no other choice but to let you on the real court." She nodded eagerly. What the guy didn't know is that Ruby has been playing with me since she could walk. She's really good for her age and can manage to play the real court. We started our one-on-one game and she dribbled the ball around me stopping at the three-point line and throwing the ball straight into the hop. I picked up the little ball and tried dribbling up the three steps to the line throwing the ball in but just hitting the rim of the basket. That's how it continues, Ruby made one basket after the other and I missed most of my shots due to the fat that I was way too tall for that basket. I got so frustrated I took the ball dribbled down the court in the wrong direction and threw the ball in from the other end of the court. "Hey bro, can we go over to the real court now? It's not like anyone is actually there, and I really need to train for my next game." "Who you playing for?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. I scoffed, my mom took me off of the team for so long people don't recognize me anymore? "Knight High School, I wasn't able to play the beginning of the season, but coach put me back on the team, so I'll play the next game." "Wait you're A Knight? I thought you were a guy." Eve laughed. "A lot of people think that." I just shrugged. "So, can we have the court?" "Sure, go over, but don't blame me when the little girl gets hurt." "Don't worry, that won't happen." I laughed and we finally made our way over to the real court.
