Darling I'm A Mess (Completed)

Chapter 1 - The Argument

Katy unlocks the door and Maya runs to her room.
When her mother and father (adoptive father but the only one she knows) sights.
Maya is definitely not going to get over this somehow and now they sit with a child who definitely isn't happy.
Shawn looks at Katy and their face expression says it all.
They think they can fix it but what will Maya think.

Shawn breath and goes to Maya's room.
He knocks on her door and goes in.
The eighteen year old is laying on her bed with her back to the door.
He sights and clears his voice.
Maya sits up and Shawn sit down next to her.

"Pack your bags. I have a vacation house in Malibu. You can stay there on your own till you decide what to do," Shawn said and Maya lightened up.
"Really?" Maya asked.
"Yes. But you better hurry. 43 hours is a long drive," Shawn said and Maya hugged him.
"Thanks Dad," Maya said and stood up.

She got her suitcase out and started packing.
Shawn smiled and went to where Katy was in the kitchen.

"Packing," Shawn said and Katy sighted.
"Book her a hotel at Grand Island please. I'll prepare food," Katy said.
"Okay," Shawn said and went on his laptop.

In the meantime Maya was busy packing
She didn't pack much.
She just packed clothes, wash things, make-up, hair tools of course, her laptop, a few books and three photos.
One Matthews Christmas, her mother and father's wedding and her graduation photo.
She smiled and after her suitcase/backpack was packed she went in front.

"Ah we have a few stuff for you," Katy said.
"I'll load this," Shawn said and took Maya's stuff.

"Come. It's a coffee flask and just a few necessities. Food for the morning if you don't want to stop. A few water bottles and of course medication," Katy said.
"Thank you Mom," Maya said and Katy took a pamphlet.
"Holiday Inn Express & Suites Grand Island. It's where you will sleep tomorrow night and no. I don't wanna hear anything. You are.."
"Okay I get it. No driving for forty hours. Thank you Mom," Maya said and took everything.

"Okay loaded," Shawn said.
"Okay. Bye Mom," Maya said and gave her mom a hug.
"Please be safe," Katy said.
"I will. Bye Dad. Take care of Mom, will you?"
"Of course," Shawn said and hugged Maya.
"Okay here I go. I'll call you when I'm in Grand Island," Maya said and headed out the door.

She put everything in the back of her car and climbed in.
She put her seat belt and the car on.
She drived out of the parking area and was heading out of NYC.
She did it.
She's going somewhere she never went on her own.
