Chapter 10 - Darling I'm A Mess

Maya was sitting like usual at the new club drinking an orange juice to get out of the house.
And Megan was surprisingly good company.

"I bumped into an old crush."
"Really? Sounds juicy," Megan said.
"Not if you were a thirteen year old girl who had a crush on a sixteen year old boy. He never showed any attention to me. I was best friends with his niece. His older brother's daughter. Also the reason why I ran from New York City to Malibu. I literally jumped in my car and drove from New York to Los Angeles. I made an idiot of myself whenever he was around," Maya said.
"Sing something to relieve your stress," Megan said.
"Okay."

As soon as Maya stepped out on the stage Josh came in and she didn't see him.
But of course she wasn't complete aware of what the next song would have on him.

"It is Ma'am," Maya said.

"That was amazing," Megan said.
"You know you're acting childish."

Maya's pov

I got the fright of my life when I saw him.
What had I just done?
I sang a song about him in front of him.

"Josh. W... What are you doing here?" Maya stumbles across her words.
"I'll leave you to it," Megan said.

"I wasn't expecting to see you here," Maya said.
"Obviously. How big of an idiot do you think I am?" Josh asked.
"This has got nothing to do with you. I got a job here and that's singing. My boss wants me to incorporate some original tracks and I do write my own music. It's not because of you."
"Why doesn't Riley even know you're here?" Josh asked.
"Because I ran away because of her. Just like I told you this morning. Look I am not going to fight with you over this ridiculous story. I'm not here for fun. I'm here to start over. If you have a problem with that... Then I'm sorry I ruined your life," Maya said and was off.

Josh did realize one thing.
That was that Maya really was running away.
And he had no idea what his niece did to cause it.
