*For inspiration for this story, I'm watching the Great British Baking Show. I thought I was a decent home cook but after watching this, I know I would have been sent home in the first week. As per yoozh, I'm giving credit to JK Rowling because she wrote the Harry Potter books and I don't own anything but you lovely people already know that.*

Christmas was always a laid back event in the Granger household but this was not an ordinary Christmas. Hermione was bringing over her new boyfriend. This was the first man that Hermione has brought home since Ronald Weasley. Jean Granger never liked Ronald Weasley. She always thought her Hermione could do so much better. Ronald was always immature and treated Hermione like a best friend that he occasionally shagged instead of a girlfriend or future wife. Jean only hoped that this next man treated Hermione like the princess she was.

The doorbell rang just as Mrs. Granger was taking the turkey out of the oven. She dipped and dodged the children running amuck the house and made her way to the front door. When she opened the door, Jean came face to face with her little angle and a handsome blonde young man. He had one hand on the small of Hermione’s back, the other was clutching gift bags and he looked quite nervous.

Draco was completely nervous. He’d never met Hermione’s parents and today he was meeting her entire family. Most of Draco’s family members were either in prison or dead so meeting Hermione’s large family was a complete forgien experience.

“Hermione, darling, I’m so glad you came,” Mrs. Granger said while pulling Hermione into a bone crushing hug, “And who’s this handsome man?”

Hermione stepped aside to give Mrs. Granger a full view of Draco, “This is Draco. Draco this is my mother Jean Granger.”

“Thank you for inviting me, Mrs. Granger.”

Mrs Granger pulled Draco into a comforting hug and he instantly relaxed. Mrs. Granger was so warm and inviting and smelled like cinnamon, “You’re so very welcome, Draco. And please call me Jean.”

Hermione gave Draco an enthusiastic thumbs up, “Of course, Jean. Hermione and I made some biscuits. I do warn you, I’m not the best baker but Hermione supervised.”

“He burned the first batch but these turned alright,” Hermione said with a laugh.

“That’s sweet of you dear. Please come meet the rest of the family.” Mrs. Granger took the box of christmas biscuits from Hermione and led them into the packed living room.

There were people on every available chair and sofa. Children played in the floor with building blocks dressed to the nines in red and green christmas sweaters. When Hermione began introducing Draco to her aunts, uncles and cousins he noticed most of the people there were from Mrs. Granger’s side of the family. Maybe Mr. Granger is an only child, Draco thought. When Hermione finally introduced him to her father, he was not what Draco expected. Mr. Granger was a short balding man with a pale complexion and round pink cheeks. If Draco hadn’t known, he would have mistaken the man for a younger Saint Nick. His appearance was a stark contrast to Mrs. Granger’s dark complexion and curly black hair but Mr. Granger’s smile was just as inviting.

“Dad, this is Draco. Draco, this is my father William Granger,” Hermione introduced.

Draco shook Mr. Granger’s hand, “It’s a pleasure to meet you Mr. Granger.”

“The feeling is returned my boy. Please take a seat wherever there’s space dinner is about to begin.”

“Thank you sir. I have a gift for you and Mrs. Granger,” Draco handed Mr. Granger a tall silver gift bag.

“Jean, can you come here please?” Mr. Granger yells.

Mrs. Granger strolled into the living room, “What is it love?”

“The stiff brought us a present,” Will retorted.

Jean playfully hit him on his shoulder, “What is it?”

Mr. Granger opens the bag and pulls out a fancy looking bottle of wine, “2007 Gaja Barbaresco, that’s quite fancy, isn’t it?”

“I thought you’d like it. Hermione said you two collect wine bottles,” Draco replied nervously.

Mrs. Granger took the bottle, “This is wonderful, Draco. Hermione, he is definitely a keeper.”
